I thought of this because Avril Lavigne knows what songs fit her voice and she has made some amazing cover songs in my opinion. Those include Nickelback's "How You Remind Me",Coldplay's "Fix You" and Adele's "Hello." I think it would be awesome to see her making an album full of covers at this point in her career, having achieved pretty much everything(hopefully a Grammy Award one day and a Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame Induction somewhere down the line). She's almost 40 years old and seems to have creative control. She's amazing vocalist/singer as we already know,so she can definitely pull it off.
EDIT:I'm not saying she has to stop releasing original material but what I'm saying is,at this point in her career, she has nothing left to prove. She's a legend who can do whatever she wants. So,overtime,we can have a Country,Christmas,Classic Rock or whatever album she want from her. She's not yet in her 50's,60's or 70's so her voice is still in her prime. She can release all those albums overtime and if she wants, she can make a 8-10 or a full 12 cover song album or maybe a 5-6 song cover song EP.She can do anything now and it'll be nice to see her do different things,be it music or acting or whatever.
This is just my opinion.Have you say in the comments down below.

I voted 'no'. I'm mostly not a fan of Avril's covers but my vote was just a gut reaction. I'll mull it over.

I totally get and respect your opinion but a lot of her covers were done when she was young(2002-2007).Her vocals have improved since then by a long way.I think she can definitely pull it off.She sang "I Love Rock N Roll" and "Bad Reputation" at Summer Sonic Festival 2014 in Japan and it was fantastic. Its on YouTube. She sang Radiohead's "Creep" at the self titled album release party in 2013 and that was good too.The Adele and Nickelback covers "Hello" and "How You Remind Me" were fantastic as well,as mentioned above.

Not to say I wouldn't like to listen to more covers but I think she has a lot on her list that she hasn't gotten to. A cover album doesn't sound nearly as exciting as putting out her own music. Where's the deluxe, double album, Christmas album, the country album, the classic rock album, the cooking book oh wait 😆

There's a bigger context for me here: what does an album of covers cost us? Despite what Avril herself says I don't expect her to record forever. i'm thinking she taps out at twelve albums (over thirty years.) I may be greedy but I want every one of them to be packed full of original Avril Lavigne songs. I'm not willing to trade an album of covers for any of the next five. So, yes, in a hypothetical situation I'm cool with an Avril cover album. But not in the real world where Avril only has so much voice to give, and the will to keep giving it. This logic does not apply to a Christmas Album that would, of course, contain covers. But Christmas defies logic!

This logic does not apply to a Christmas Album that would, of course, contain covers. But Christmas defies logic! She can put out one covers album in her entire career. It doesn't mean she can't make other albums. She can do a 6-8 song covers album or an EP of 5-6 songs and she can put out a full length 12 song album of original material. She's in her late 30's and pushing 40's so her voice is still in her prime before she goes into her 50's and 60's.And some singers still sing well into their 50's,60's and even 70's although its rare. She still has time and age on her side to experiment now with different things including different genres(not saying she hasn't done different genres before but like a full album or a full album of covers). She's already established and has nothing to prove. She can enjoy doing different things. She can do a Country,Christmas,Hard Rock, etc album or anything at this point is what I'm trying to say. This includes a covers album, although,a covers album is highly unlikely.

It shouldn't take her long to make a covers album but knowing her who knows. But technically the Christmas album could be considered a covers album.

I'd be here for it. I really like a lot of Avril's covers, especially Adia and How You Remind Me.

I wouldn’t want an entire album of covers to be honest. Maybe that’s something she can do later on when she isn’t as inspired to write new music, or some kind of passion project between albums if she plans to take a long break or something, but I think all her fans would rather get new, original music from her. An occasional cover here and there is fine like the Spotify Singles or on the setlist at her concerts, but we don’t really need a whole album. I can’t see her being into the idea, I think she prefers writing her own stuff. I’d only want a covers album if she was going to really put her own twist on the songs (like HYRM) and make them really different. Otherwise I just don’t see the point.

I think things like Christmas or covers albums could be a good idea to tide fans over. Avril fans get impatient after living through some difficult eras and sometimes, with her writing her own songs, new albums can take a while. Things aren't always going to flow as easily as they did with Love Sux. A covers album of say, 10 songs would be able to be produced much quicker because she doesn't have to write anything and would probably only lightly promote one single at most. A Christmas albm would be the same kind of thing although probably with a few original songs thrown in too.
EPs of rarities and unreleased songs would be fun too. For example, if she knew she was probably going to spend most of a year writing/recording a new album she could release 3 EPs of 4 songs each throughout the year on streaming. Or do 2 and make the 3rd a physical album with the songs from the first EPs plus a few more as a collectors edition for fans. That would depend on her getting hold of the old songs though.

Other than Adia, I’ve only ever listened to her other covers once then never gone back to them. So for me, no.
There’s very few covers from any artist than I enjoy more than the original versions tbh.

No. I like listening to Avrils music for her own lyrics, not some other artists. I did love her cover of Bad Reputation, Oh Holy Night and imagine though! I don't think she always chooses the best songs to cover. I know in the past she got slack for covering SOAD, Green day and Metallica. I can't imagine her doing a whole album of cover songs and I don't think it'll be something she'd want to do either, infact it's pretty much unheard of a well known artist putting out an album of songs that aren't there's.

I voted No cause yes she is good in covers but I prefer her own music and don’t go back often to her covers.
