Idk if I'm necessarily concerned about AL8 because she's seemed "bored" in the few public appearances she's had. It's not exactly unheard of for her to seem bored when talking about upcoming music even when there's actually something concrete to promote. Promotion for AL8 hasn't even started yet. And her public appearances have been, what, a few surprise performances (most of which have been as a feature) and PFW? She's laying pretty low, and for someone who often doesn't come across as enthusiastic when she's TRYING to promote stuff and seem excited, I'm not at all worried that she seems bored when she's not even promoting anything. What DOES have me worried for AL8 is that she's apparently still writing. I think that's been the core issue from GL onward, regardless of whether it's because the label forced it or she wanted to keep going. It's like she writes the initial album about the breakup, and then as she seems to be wrapping up that initial round of songs, she gets in a new relationship and is like "well now that I'm writing about this, I need to include some of these songs on the album too!" Every. Single. Time. Rinse and repeat. She's always writing, which is fine cause it's clearly her hobby in addition to her career, but somebody should tell her that just cause she's writing songs she's excited about, doesn't mean they have to go on the album she was just about to finish.
I love her, but by the time she gets around to releasing the album we're lucky if she even still relates to half the songs. And again, it's fine that she gets bored easily and always wants to move on to the next shiny thing (relationships, songs, etc) but she's gotta release the album while she's still excited about the songs. In this age of streaming, it honestly makes more sense for her to put out like short 5-7 song albums as she writes them. And then tour every other album... might be a way for her to actually play the new songs too lol.

Like an EP basically put out a 5 song EP twice a year if she got songs, then big gigantic album tour and regular era. I do agree about the relevant shit if she is in a new relationship, major IF, Please, dont scrap half your album with new songs about how in love you are. with your new boyfriend thats gonna last a year cuz you know youre gonna dump him

You know what she should do? Write the new love songs about the new relationship, save it, release the original album, and then add those love songs to the beginning of the next album because the back half of the next one is gonna be about their breakup anyway so it'll be a complete story 😂

Wondering if Av has picked up Britney’s book. Av was kinda critical of Brit but also not. MTV tried to start that fight. I also distinctly remember an interview of her singing gimme more and saying how much she loves that song and supporting Brit. I was worried that she would have been mentioned in it though. It would be cool if Brit was on al8. That’s one collab I’d love!

If she really loves being on stage, she could go on tour without having a new album. She only sings the singles on tour anyways. I'm sure she will look magnificent on stage based on her Instagram posts, lol

I disagree about her not being motivated. She hasn’t been posting a lot or mentioned much about the album in interviews, but she has been working on it since about this time last year. Fans complain when she says too much too soon and most of it never sees the light of day, then when she keeps quiet fans complain she’s not saying enough about it. Maybe she is just being quiet because she wants to make sure everything is set in stone and not talk about songs that may end up just getting scrapped.
In reality albums can take 1-2 years or more to make, depending on how much she wants to keep writing. She’s only been at it for a year. She’s allowed to take as much time as she wants to work on it and be as quiet about it as she feels. It doesn’t mean she isn’t working behind the scenes or that she isn’t motivated.

I think we’re also taking it for granted that she even has to make an album in the first place. She’s still making music because she wants to. She could easily retire by now, or take another 5 years to make an album if she wanted to. The fact she’s still passionate about putting out new music and working in the studio as much as she does seems pretty motivated to me.

I just had the most random thought: To get her to do some reflection in her lyrics she could work with Deryck from SUM41. Thats would be soooo interesting to see what they would come up with after all these years since they were married. She was so young back then and in a totally different phase of life. Musically they both know how to do good melodies and still keep it pop-rock-punk-ish. It could be UMS meets LS.

I was thinking about it the other day - when did Avril say that she cut many songs produced by J.Rotem on HAW because of their love breakup?
Many fans talk about it as something that she actually said. Is there any confirmation of it in a interview or something?
I can't remember. By the way, J.Rotem is the co-writer and producer of "Birdie".

She never said it outright but it’s assumed, considering how many songs they wrote together and only 1 made the cut, well obviously the rest were cut. If I remember correctly, Birdie only made the album because her friends encouraged her to put it on because they loved the song. Otherwise I strongly doubt any of their songs would have made the cut. It’s logical to assume their breakup was the reason, though it’s possible his songs just didn’t fit musically.

Well, "Bright", "Lights Out" and "Lucky One's" are the only cut songs co-written by J.Roten. Avril isn't registered as a co-writer of "Bright" just as in "I want what I want" which is a cover, originally recorded and written by Lauren Christy in 1997. In my opinion, Black Stars bought this assumption to make the entire narrative of the album more interesting and to justify the lack of cohesion on the album's tracklist.
