Since we know Avril is currently at work on her 8th studio album and plans to release it soon, I think it's ok to make a speculation thread. We'll change the title of the thread once we know the album name.
Details that are currently known:
- Avril has been working in the studio with John Feldmann and Travis Barker again, as well as new collaborators like Yungblud, Tommee Profitt, Andrew Goldstein, and Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low
- She has said she plans to release it in 2023 along with the tour
- She played a very brief clip in one of her Instagram stories which suggested a fast, uptempo pop punk track again, but otherwise the sound is not known. She only went on record saying it’s like a mixture of Love Sux and her previous work.
- The subject matter of the songs is also not currently known
- Yungblud has praised their work together and believes it's "Grammy worthy"
- On Jan 14th, 2023 Avril posted stories from the studio with Travis Barker and pop star Gayle
- On Jan 21st, Avril phoned in to Most Requested Live and confirmed it will be a mix of old and new sounds, she also teased a special collaboration but didn't name who
- On February 16th, she did an interview with Merf Radio for PopCrush Nights, where she spoke about working on her next album, stating that she has been working in the studio between touring and that she plans to release the album this year. She stated, “Honestly, I feel like my album is done. I’m still writing, but I’m pretty much there. I feel like I’m in the zone and just following my heart.”
- On April 3rd, Avril was in the studio with John Feldmann and Canadian songwriter Simon Wilcox
- On April 25th, a new interview was published for the Netherlands magazine Numero. When asked about new music, she said, “I can’t stop writing songs, I am so inspired. After this tour, I am going to take some time to look at everything I have done so far and figure out the best way to release it into the world.”
- On May 8th, a supposed cut from AL8 leaked called "Close"
- On May 12th, another supposed cut from AL8 leaked called "Anesthesia"
- On September 30th, a new interview and photoshoot was published by MOOD Magazine, in which Avril confirmed new music will be released next year. She said, “I can’t say a lot right now. But I have been working with incredible musicians and producers in the studio. I plan to release something next year and am actively booking tour dates."
- On October 4th, Avril posted a photo from a recording studio, indicating she may still be at work on her next album
- On October 24th, a snippet of a song leaked with the title “Seeing the Signs,” though it is unknown if this is the real title. It is also unknown if it’s an outtake from Love Sux, or the upcoming 8th album

- In an interview with eTalk, Avril confirmed she has been writing lots of songs and that she plans to release new music in 2024, but does not have a set release date. She also confirmed a tour, but it is unknown if she is referring to her run of festival dates or a proper world tour

- On February 21st, snippets of two songs leaked called “Rap Star” and “Boy at the Rock Show,” however they were not widely circulated. The songs are believed to be scrapped tracks from Avril’s 8th album. In early 2023, Travis Barker had made reference to "Rap Star" in a comment on Avril's Instagram
- "Boy at the Rock Show” is a reworking of the blink-182 song “The Rock Show” off their 2001 album Take Off Your Pants and Jacket
