I'm always very interested in where Avril will go. Even though I liked Love Sux, I don't want to get a copy of it. I'd like to get new song themes, I want a rock sound. More mid-tempo songs. The overall tone is darker like Birdie, Hello Heartache, Wings Clipped. Please Avril, sing with your natural voice, Feldman, save it!

It’s worth noting that she typically seems to do the opposite of whatever the previous album was, so like HAW was a darker, more mature and serious album, while Love Sux is uptempo and lighthearted. Meaning AL8 may possibly be more ballad-driven again? She did say it’s a mixture of Love Sux and her previous work (I should probably add that to the OP). yeah, hope that made both including the juvenile finishing

Did Avril say she's going to release new record on New Year 2023?
So that's like 365 days from now

She said she was in the studio and that she will release a new album in this new year 2023 and that she will also go on tour. She didnt say that she will release it at new years EVE 2023, she meant the whole year.

She said in the new year she is planning to release a new album and go on tour. So it’s unclear if she means the album will come out prior to the Europe tour or during, or released way later in the year. But I think we can reasonably expect the new album this year.

I think if the album isn't released before the tour we won't have it until fall. I mean, it doesn't make sense to tour with the songs (even if they are just 4) and the aesthetics of Love Sux just to release a new album the next month. And summer is a very bad time for album releases, it's very uncommon for pop/rock artists to release albums in summer. She may also have a rest after 2 years straight of music related work and spend the last summer touring the States. Taking into account she starts the tour in Europe in April, she has just 3 months to release it before the tour starts, which I think it's unlikely unless the album is in its final stages. So I don't think the album won't come before September/October. Wouldn't mind to be surprised with an earlier release though lol

It would make sense to tour Europe first and then release it, since US didn’t get a proper solo tour and she didn’t do so many dates in SA etc I assume it would be another chance to tour the US with solo shows for example.

I would love for that to be the case, that she will do a tour in the US after dropping the album. I wasn't interested in seeing her on the MGK tour but would love if she did solo shows again.

I live in Europe and I bought tickets for the Head Above Water Tour which are now tickets for the Love Sux Tour due to the pandemic, which is fine. But now I want it to stay the Love Sux Tour and not the tour for a whole new album! I rather see her for the new album again!

I think this will be a summer album. Probably the lead between March-May. Album in July-august. The last 2 were during autumn-winter. it’s time for spring-summer music

Don't forget that the name of the tour was also changed to Avril Lavigne Tour before we got Love Sux. I can't take another name change haha 😂

I guess it depends how people define "politics". For some people that's stuff like the so-called right-wing/left-wing/middle topic, for others (like me) "politics" is basically everything from women's rights and gender-equality to racism to how we structure our society etc. So whenever Avril is talking about female empowerment that would be "politics" for me. But I agree with others: Her writing skills are not good enough and I think she might not be educated enough. I appreciate her "women can do anything, nothing can stop us"-attitude but I'm not interested in half-cooked lyrics about the inequalities in our society. I am fine with lyrics about love and relationships, but I need BETTER lyrics. She recycles the same words again and again. Like I dont want to hear anymore name/same, life/right, cry/lie rhymes anymore... she needs to expand her vocabulary. And I wish she wouldnt be so generic. She is so focused on making her lyrics relatable to everyone that there is rarely a personal nuance or story in it. I want more lyrics that we can speculate about, like who did she call out in Deja Vu? Who did she talk about in Birdie? Stuff like that. Not like I'm A Mess which has the most basic lyrics and is just boring to me. I also hope she will continue to explore new sounds that fit withher signature sound. Hello Kitty is a total flop, but Cannonball (or even PityParty) have just the right amount of new influences (here: electronic sound). Lyrics for the room of speculation is a conceptual album. I would like to have but not sure if Avril will be able. But I think she made it from track 1 to 5 for Love Sux. Yeah, Dubstep and Pop Punk is surprisingly blend. Maybe she should go for it. I don't see her going that deep either. If we were to see some serious progress in lyrics, it would have happened already. Alanis Morissette released Jagged Little Pill when she was 28 and I can't imagine Avril writing lyrics like that right now -- maybe when she's in her 50s or 60s? She isn't a lyricist and I think in one interview she even confessed to how bored she gets writing lyrics.

Agree re her lyrics, the quality will never change. She’s just not *that* good a writer and that’s fine. I get why she doesn’t want to work with songwriters but tbh I really wouldn’t mind her getting a bit more help with writing from professionals, there’s no shame in it.
