It's just Avril, avriling. I doubt she's ever going to change drastically in terms of how/when/whether she releases songs. Maybe she just doesn't want to release songs she isn't "feeling" anymore and doesn't care whether it's good business sense or not.

Guess who is #1 on Billboard 200 this week? Could it be part of the reason why Avril is increasing a lot on streams lately? I think I'm missing something, but what's the link between that #1 and Avril? The last song of the #1 album in US right now, called "Streets Made me a King" says Avril name, repeated many times during the song: "Don't give a f*ck how good she look, ain't trustin' none of the tings I got white girls on me, Avril Lavigne"

Time and money were spent on each song not only by Avril, but also by others who took part. I increasingly think that Avril has lost interest in music, of course after so many years. When she released the LS, she seemed to burn brightly, but then quickly went out. But I don't blame her.

I think its unfair to say shes uninterested when shes clearly still working.I mean lets look at Rihanna. she keeps teasing music, its been 8 years since she released her last album, No touring, last big thing was the SB and everyone thought oh shes gonna release music then, nothing. She keeps teasing us with music saying hse has stuff that can be hits and nothing. At least with Avril we can physically see she is working ewhether we see her in a studio or doing something else or touring.

Never got into my Alanis phase lol but i get why Avril was named the next Alanis, i mean, that song alone sounds so LG. it could be just the pop-rock 2000s sound but still, even the lyrics are very story-telling just like LG. I really wish Avril could go in that direction sooner than later bc i think we all had enough of bratty Avril and i don't want her to end up like "b**ch i'm madonna" and not knowing when to stop LOL. I found this rare video last week where she mentioned Alanis as a good comparision, way back in early 2002: In the past, she also mentioned that Alanis was one of the few women in music who showed some support to her on the beggining. I also found this recent quote: btw I think "Rock N Roll" is a bit of a "Bitch I'm Madonna" song.

Unless it is something that is untrue and clearly made to harm Avril, in which case she could sue for slander if she wanted, which does not seem to be the intent, there is nothing wrong with it. I personally don't like it because I don't like that style of music, but preferences aside, there is nothing technically wrong or illegal in doing it.

Hi everyone! I haven't been online in a bit, but I'm not surprised to see no news. Still, with the beginning of the tour only one month away, I'm starting to wonder (again) if it's possible we might get new music before then? Personally, since it's Avril, I honestly have quite low expectations. I hate to say it, but over all these years, I've learned to expect nothing but the bare minimum from her. Not that she doesn't ever give us more than that, but tbh, most of the time, it feels like the bare minimum is indeed what we get. Anyway, despite my hopes being extremely low, I still think it would be such a missed opportunity! Imo she really ought to do something like what MCR did before they started their reunion tour back in 2022. They released a new song just a few days prior to the start of the tour. It was a complete surprise; afaik, nobody had any clue whatsoever they'd release a song. It was just there all of a sudden. They then proceeded to open every single show of the entire tour with that new song. If Avril could do the same thing - just surprise-drop a new song shortly before the start of the tour and then have that song be part of the setlist for every single show - I feel like that would make perfect sense. It would create a lot more hype around the tour, we fans would obviously be very happy, and it could also serve as a perfect transition to the next "proper" era / AL8 era. Since she's going to perform at a lot of festivals, it would make people aware of the fact that she's not just here as a nostalgia artist, but that she still releases new music, which could then lead to increased streaming numbers on Spotify, Apple Music etc. And, on a personal note, it would make a nice late birthday present (my birthday is in early May). Btw, maybe I'm misremembering, but has Avril never actually surprise-dropped a song? I feel like within the last 10-ish years, almost every popular/well-known artist has done this at least once, except for Avril.

Honestly I’m glad and feeling complex she hasn’t released music more often
I mean here we are only 7 months after she released a new song and a year on Sunday and we’re beginning for a new album or song and saying oh she does the bare minimum despite her going on tour next month
Taylor just released an album 6 months after her last re recording and first new album in 1.5 years and people are saying it’s too much and to take a long break so we can miss her and it’s fatigue of her. So idk what to make of anything because it seems to be so 2 sided so honestly imma just be patient and wait it’ll come eventually

I wouldn't really count "Bite Me" as a surprise-drop. Like I said, MCR released a song without any hints whatsoever prior to its release. No teasing, no nothing. The song was just suddenly there. I'd love to see Avril do that, too, some day. And now would be the perfect opportunity imo.
I also wasn't talking about Taylor at all? There are tons of other artists besides her, that don't do so much that people start feeling burned out, but they still do a lot more than Avril. And I'm not just talking about releasing music. I'm also talking about touring, communication, songwriting... There are a lot of things Avril and her team could improve upon. And I think releasing a new song prior to the start of the tour would be a really good start. I honestly feel that it's what every other artist would do.
However, I didn't actually mean for this conversation to go in the "Avril tends to do the bare minimum" kind of way (though, feel free to discuss, of course!). My intention was actually do maybe bring a bit more life back into this thread, and to maybe talk about potential new music.

Honestly I’m glad and feeling complex she hasn’t released music more often that's soemthing you dont really see around these parts. I'm jaded but in a complete opposite way. A decade of s**ns and hiatuses will do that to you. Despite wanting to know about AL8, I'm glad we haven't gotten s**ns this era. Some context for the s**ns, like the Homer Simpson thing we had an automatic autocorrect so we wouldn't see the word soon. Gives me flashbacks when I hear it in the wild (only half joking). And preaching to the choir. It's kind of expect we get one new song even if has no correlation with a new album. But Avril is always so complicated. She rarely does what is expected but sometimes she throws us a bone. I wonder if the tour hadn't sold so well if we would have seen some promo by now.

Yeah, I still feel jaded by years of "s**n" myself. That definitely plays a big part in my expectations always being so low now. The eras of "s**n" were just really hard, especially since I was such a hardcore fan back then and she was the only artist I really loved and actively followed.
I guess that's also why I haven't truly longed for new music in a while tbh. Even prior to LS, I was kind of like "yeah, I'll take new music if I get it, but if I have to wait longer that's also fine." I'm in this state right now, too. Of course it would be nice to get new music, and the timing would be perfect now, or within the next four weeks. But I've been let down far too often in the past, so I don't actually expect anything.

I’m not trying to say we’re entitled to anything but I feel like we deserve some explanation or update about where she’s at with music. She’s been talking about releasing it since at least last year or maybe even earlier than that, we had studio updates and now she’s gone silent. It feels a bit unfair to the fans to talk about releasing music and then just ghost us. Even if she said she was still working on it, that’s not the issue, it’s just simply updating us on what’s going on. When customers are interested in your product and then you just ghost them with no explanation it’s kind of disrespectful to the people who are willing to put time and energy into supporting you. Movie studios, publishers, etc. do this all the time with updating their customer base if there’s going to be a delay with putting out a film, book, show, etc. It’s only fair to let people know it’s not coming just yet and when they might reasonably expect something so they don’t just lose interest and leave.
