I don't think people are trying to put country rock like oil and water but it's def not what most people here are thinking of when they say they want country rock. I think people will be surprised how much country pop might be more the thing they're looking for but it depends on the artist really. Good info though! I really don't like those first few names. Or the Brothers Osborne to name another. No offense, to them personally. Just not my taste. Oh God, Beyonce. There's still a lot of racism in that fandom. I was really upset by some comments I found during Stagecoach. You don't really see it on TV because they try to appear more inclusive, minus what they did to Beyonce. On the internet sometimes you find some things. Not that Avril will have that problem IMO. Anyway, sorry went off topic. Back to Avril, maybe that's why it looked like she was learning acoustic guitar yesterday. I found that a little bit odd unless they're working on a new melody. Maybe new band members. I wonder if they're all returning.

Worth remembering how notoriously awful Avril is at describing her own music. When she says country rock that could be ANYTHING lol. She’ll always say something is rock even if it isn’t.
She can easily pull off a country sound (and has done before). She doesn’t have to be singing about back roads and trucks. We’ve said it before but she’d have to work with some other writers. Audience wise I don’t see any issues - she’s done country leaning songs before (particularly on LG) - and I can’t speak for other places but country is a lot more popular in Europe than people think it is.

She doesn’t have to be singing about back roads and trucks. Yeah my number one request by far is just to NOT try to write country lyrics lmao. It would either come off as grossly inauthentic, corny, unserious, or all of the above. Just write the songs normally as if it were any other album, only major difference should be arrangement. As you mentioned with LG having country adjacent stuff, she’s written many songs that could easily be country if they had different arrangements. “Tomorrow” and “Fall to Pieces” especially stand out to me as songs that are a few production choices away from being bonafide country songs. Honestly, if she steered clear of the country stereotype lyrics, I’d consider it such a win that I’d be pretty much be ok with whatever sonic direction she would decide to go in lol.

As a european, i agree that going full country would be a little bit....uhm, how do i say it? career murderer. I literally don't know any european that listens to country music apart from some christian moms that like this country-christian acoustic style since a lot of old christian songs come from America and they obviously have some country influence but young people?? nah... Even myself, the most country thing i listen to, is a band called NeedToBreathe, which is considered to be country but even they mix genres with rock and pop and more modern sounds.
If it's something similar to old Taylor Swift maybe it could work for Avril, but i would rather see her doing more acoustic and indie songs or even going full pop rather than country, sorry :')

I think that’s just an assumption because I feel we would’ve seen them together besides that one time. I mean I wouldn’t see a reason to hide it unlike tyga who none of us liked, people like Nate Smith. Don’t trust daily mail that much. Also Sam smith is a different person he’s the pop singer who sings Unholy and he’s gay just thought I’d let you know

Country music is very popular here in the US. It’s interesting what different Countries listen to. But also it’s frustrating for an artist probably as they want to dabble in something new and it might work for a certain country like US and not for Europe.

Even full-on trap would be better IMO, and I'm not kidding.
The only "Country" I'd be able to accept is something like Taylor's Speak Now or Red albums, which have Country influences but aren't quite Country albums.
I honestly hope she keeps doing pop-punk/pop-rock since it's where she shines best and it's where her niche is. She just has to learn to make her lyrics a bit more relatable to her fanbase, which are mostly in their 30s now. Something like "Eyes Wide Shut" is the perfect example of how she can evolve both the sound and lyricism and create something that could be a huge step forward in her artistry.

She’d only alienate some people if she went full yeehaw country which she wouldn’t anyway. I think we’ve all got very differing ideas of what country sounds like lol… modern country is nothing like what’s being described here!

Honestly like I don’t like country much but I do really like Nate Smith and I think his style of music would blend with Avril’s vocals perfectly. I think that style of country would fit Avril so good
