Is the "remarkable show" in the room with us?

I hate this idea that we should be “thankful” for x y and z. It’s her job, it has quite literally made her MILLIONS which has been funded by people like us. None of us owe her any gratitude for putting out music and touring when we’re literally paying for it. Even less so when it’s an absolutely half arsed tour - and has been for years - with absolutely no intention or care from her to make it better. Yeah, thank Avril??
And yeah, remarkable is just ridiculous lol it is absolutely NOT a remarkable show and anyone saying otherwise is kidding themselves

Even less so when it’s an absolutely half arsed tour - and has been for years - with absolutely no intention or care from her to make it better. Yeah, thank Avril?? That’s the thing though, you don’t have to pay for it. She’s not holding you at gunpoint and making you buy these things, she’s offering it for people who do want to buy it. I have no intention of going to a concert this tour or buying any of this merch, but it’s existence harms me in no way shape or form. And yes I suppose it is her job, but not really in a traditional sense, it’s also a job that she can quit any day and retire from with minimal consequences to herself, like you said she’s made millions, she’s still doing this “job” primarily for her fans and because she wants to. No we don’t have to pay for it - but unfortunately for fans if you don’t buy tickets the minute they go on sale you run a real risk of not getting tickets at all. Given we don’t know how good/bad the show will be until the tour starts, fans have to make a choice to pay and risk it being bad or not pay and risk missing out on something good. When the reality is risking it being bad should never be an option because she’s a professional who should be taking the time to put together a great show for her paying fans. You know, like most other artists do. Honestly it’s attitudes like this which is why she’ll never change. I go to live shows a lot and none of them are ever as half arsed and short as Avrils regardless of how big the artist is or where they are in their career. How can she be doing this for her fans when she ignores any feedback or requests from them and has done for years (even when she’s ASKED for it)? Shes doing it to make herself and her team more £ which is why she’s doing the absolute bare minimum. Shes not doing us a favour here. I just can’t get over anyone thinking it’s remarkable lol in what world

Also I should add literally nobody here is asking her to perform like she’s 19 again. She very clearly can’t do that and that’s ok. We are asking her to adapt her show so she can do a decent length set without getting exhausted and out of breath 4 songs in.

From watching some of the videos from closer up to the stage from night one I actually don’t think the show seems terrible. Most of the vocals sound good to me, yeah some areas were not on pitch or hitting some notes but that’s what I love about live music. I don’t like it to be exactly the same as recordings.
Show could be longer or with at least a couple more songs we haven’t heard for ages. But I am still looking forward to seeing her in Manchester regardless. It is different when you are there in person. Also, videos from the crowd are also not the best quality.
However, I am nervous about the Glastonbury performance, she absolutely needs to knock that out of the park. It will be broadcast on national tv in the UK and it is a huge, huge event with millions of people watching. A bad performance will get absolutely trashed and she most likely won’t have a large stage set production to glam things up a bit.

I just can’t get over anyone thinking it’s remarkable lol in what world Honestly it might just be a genre disconnect for me lol, I'm not used to such an elaborate production for a concert. Maybe for pop artists it's nothing special I guess, but compared to what I'm used to I think it's pretty damn cool. For example, Aaron Lewis (the singer from Staind) is an artist I like who came up around the same time as Avril, and his concerts now basically just consist of him getting hammered on an empty stage and playing roughly 15 songs by himself on an acoustic guitar with weird political interludes. Hahaha yes I will give it to Avril, she’s not THAT bad!

Looks like Auburn will also be a sold out show. It's the first US stop of the tour. I'm curious about the reviews.

boo hoo demanding comments on instagram shes only performing 25 greatest hits songs when it's called the greatest hits tour. Be grateful she's performing at all and people have the chance to see her I wouldn't care if she only sung only Complicated 25 times, I'd still be grateful I've seen her. greateful for what? Fans are complaning about the short setlist of HITS on GREATEST HITS tour. The tickets arent for free and people expect for the bare minimum - sing with passion and put on a great show. Then don't go? If you know you're not going to enjoy the show, arent grateful for seeing her and you know its not going to be a decent show then don't go, simple or don't complain about it

These are fans. They WANT to see her. They WANT to see a good show. They’ll probably have a good enough time regardless, but that still doesn’t mean she isn’t delivering the absolute bare minimum and disrespecting paying fans

There are people who will never even get the chance to see her. You're lucky you're even getting the opportunity so shouldn't complain about the 'bare minimum' because it isn't.

I appreciate there are people who want to see her and can’t but that doesn’t mean people paying hundreds to do so should be happy with the bare minimum when the majority of other artists go out of their way to deliver a great show for fans. I get if you want to see her but can’t it’s annoying to see people complain, but it doesn’t mean they’re wrong!

I do understand the argument of ‘don’t buy her tickets if you’re going to complain’ but I think as fans we’ll always expect more.
I seen her last year on the LS tour. It was alright, but I remember feeling well more excited when I was aged 17 and seen her 20 years before.
I’ve booked tickets for this tour and maybe this will be the last time I see her. Yes there prob is an argument for us having high expectations due to other musicians performing longer i.e Taylor. Man, I saw Pink last year too, she did 10 songs more than Avril and flew through the air!
I just don’t think it is a lot to ask to perform 4 more songs. Or play the whole Greatest Hits album for gods sake. That is not a lot to ask. Does anyone want a duet with ATL? I don’t. Nor did I want a duet with Phem - Wannabe. That was so wide of the mark. I do think the obvious omissions being LG, NH and KHO are because they’re difficult to sing. IWY is too, but she would never be forgiven for dropping that.

I’m sure we’re all grateful she’s still touring and putting out new music from time to time. She can stop anytime and given what happened to her with Lyme, it’s almost a miracle she was able to recover 100% considering she was bedridden for 2 years. Obviously because of it she can’t perform like she used to, but that’s ok and I don’t think anyone is expecting her to. But she can still sing and jump around a little or fist pump to try to keep up with the fast pace of her shows, she can pull out a guitar for a few songs. She has expressed many times she’s still doing all this because she is still enjoying it.
I think that’s why fans are confused. Because she says she’s still passionate about performing but sometimes she looks like she’s bored onstage or on autopilot. She doesn’t make any real effort to change up her shows too much by changing up the songs, even just adding in one different song each night. No rearrangements, medleys, etc. It makes me wonder if she really enjoys performing that much still, or if she just does it because she’s still in physical condition to and can make money. I mean money is a huge part of it, let’s not pretend like she’s doing this for the pure love of music.
The artist-fan relationship is a 2-way street. She can stop doing music at any point, and that’s fair. Fans can also stop supporting her if we want and that’s also fair. Nobody has to buy a ticket to see her or buy anything she puts out if it’s not to their liking. But fans also deserve a decent show if they’ve bought a ticket as well. Two things can be true.
The first time I saw her in 2014 it wasn’t as expensive as I thought it would be. I had orchestra seats for $75 each. The second time was a smaller venue and I was much much closer to the stage and the tickets were either about the same price or maybe even more like $50-ish. This time is WAYYY more expensive, it’s a bigger venue than either of the other 2 and the tickets were about $150 each I think and I’m not even on the first level at all but the second deck. So $300-ish for a concert barely over an hour is steep by those standards. It’s understandable fans think for those prices she could throw in a few extra songs. And obviously she’s not the one setting the prices and probably has no idea what fans are paying to see her but she could be more mindful of giving fans a show worth the money.
