Vocables are non-lexical sounds used in songs, the most common being "la la la", "na na na" etc. Avril has used these many times in various songs throughout her career (off the top of my head, the bridge in Mobile, pre-chorus of Nobody's Fool, going into the last chorus of Keep Holding On), so I'm just curious to know if other people have noticed this and have a favourite example of her using them.
For me it's the "la da da" part of Things I'll Never Say, I absolutely love that part of the song as it captures the uplifting, carefree spirit of the song perfectly.

One of my favorites is in the opening of Complicated: "uh huh" as it sets up the rest of the song. Also, the "la la la la" part just before the first verse. I like the way she melodically sings that part

Honestly, I'm not sure if I love it or hate it. I think she uses it so often. But it's also classic for her and it's so pop punk. I think the song it really suits is Things I'll Never Say, Mobile and Complicated.

Some vocables I like that I can think of off the top of my head: Nobody's Fool ("la la la" in pre-chorus) Everybody Hurts ("la la la" in chorus) He Wasn't ("na na na na na" in bridge) Stop Standing There ("la la la" in background of last chorus)
But my absolute favourite has to be those "ah ah ah ah" in the bridge of How Does It Feel.
I have to say, though, even though Avril uses these vocables quite well in some songs, I think she overdoes it. I feel like at least 50 % of all her songs include a good portion of vocables. Like I said, it works well in some songs, but other times, it can sound kind of childish and/or like lazy songwriting imo.

The "ah ah ah" from the intro of Hot comes to mind. I've always found it catchy.

Oh, and I also absolutely love the "ah ah ah" at the end of IFILWTD

I love them all, she uses them so well. Its just one or two songs that it feels like maybe it could have been a lyric.
Love it in My Happy Ending, He Wasnt, Complicated, Things I'll Never Say, Bite Me... Its great when she does harmonies on them as well in some ballads.
