 Hello everbody, it's thr time of the month were we are going to reward the Member of the Month! But whom have managed to stand out in the crowd, keept up their post count and gotten the attention from other members? Well the staff team have picked the nominees, but it's up to you to choose whom to become MOTM September 2015! The prize - The title Member of the Month November 15 and a winners blend. It's been hard it was between helloheartache and Cookie Monster. I voted... "Cookie Monster" the only one who made me feel welcome within this forum and he has awesome opinions and he is not scared to express his opinion in his own unique way.  but also helloheartache made me feel welcome to she has awesome music taste also. Once upon a time the staff tried the democratic process for a while, but the concern was that people were nominating their friends, and not people who were more deserving of recognition. Why they don't just pick the MOTM among themselves, I don't know. I guess they're just trying to please everyone, which in their defense is NEVER easy. |

We look at who have been posting, liking, been logged in etc. And i can only speak for me, but i dont have a personal opinion. We can always bring back suggestions. As of now, i think this works out. If anyone think otherwise, let one of us know.  |

Personally I think the way we've been doing it is fair. The staff have some control over who gets nominated to avoid people who don't really deserve it getting nominated over those who do deserve it, or to avoid having the same people nominated over and over, but the members still get to decide from that group who wins. To me it's the most fair way to do it so that everyone has a say in it somewhere.
ETA: And like TheRaven noted above, a lot of members either had no idea who to nominate (except their friends) or most people just weren't interested/didn't have time/forgot. And no one could ever really agree, from what I remember everyone was told to nominate 2 people and I guess out of that whichever 5 people got the most votes were the ones nominated, but given how many members were on the old site, no 2 people would ever nominate exactly the same people. It just never really worked out and we reverted back to this method.

The Member of the Month is supposed to be someone who is active on the forum and contributes to the community in a positive way, whether it's posting a lot of insightful thoughts/opinions, being respectful to other members, or posting the latest Avril news and media. They have to meet some certain requirements and obviously not everyone does. Would it be fair to give the award to someone who, let's say, only visits the forum once every 3 months and when they visit they just post negative comments and act mean to everyone, versus someone who visits every day, is nice and helpful to everyone, and is very positive and supportive about Avril? In the past when members were allowed to nominate who they wanted a lot of people just nominated their friends, even if those people never did anything on the forum. |
