So one of my top 3 favorite bands/artists of all time * Nightwish * are coming out with their new album "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" on March 31st. 1st album with their new lead singer Floor Jansen! For all those who are not familiar with this band, they are from Finland. You won't hear them on any stations around here in the U.S. but they are truly unique and pioneers in what they do with lyrics and singers you can understand. (Marco Hietala is also co/backup singer of the band and oh boy he's awesome!) I also recommend their albums "Dark Passion Play" and "Imaginaerum" (Both with Anette & Marco) and "Century Child" (With Tarja & Marco). Here's a link from their website to listen to the first track of their new album! www.hs.fi/mainos/advertoriaali/nightwish/

I was a fan of Nightwish back in the late 90's/early 00's when Tarja was their singer.
I only heard one or 2 songs with Anette and her singing was too poppy for my liking, well not poppy per se, but less operatic or less symphonic, if you will. I've probably missed some good songs, but I was disheartened with the whole Tarja thing and I've never really explored any of their work since about '06 or whenever that was. To be honest, I didn't even know they had another singer now. Did they kick Anette out in the same way that they did with Tarja?
Re the song you linked - I'm not as impressed with Floors singing, she's a good singer don't get me wrong, but I still prefer Tarja. The 40second section from about 4 minutes was really great, but there was something lacking in the rest of the song imo.

I've been listening to metal since I don't know when, but I must admit that I've never heard of Nightwish before. I guess symphonic metal isn't a sub-genre I'm very familiar with.
They sound good though. They remind me of Lacuna Coil, except more operatic and with better singers.

And then I remembered that it's the release date for the US. No, seriously, I love Floor's voice. I believe out of the three women she's the one with the best voice. My favourite example is Scaretale, it fit Anette's voice nicely but Tarja wouldn't have been able to pull it off like she did. Floor on the other hand can handle Scaretale but also those songs which were written for Tarja's voice. How is it that I've never come across someone else who loves Nightwish and is a BA member?

If I remember it right it was Anette who was mad that they played a concert when she caught a cold. They invited two other singers to jump in that evening but rumors were saying that Anette had been moody all the time and the others couldn't handle it anymore, but well, those were rumors I heard. I don't know how much is true.

Hello, in reply to what happened to Anette as lead singer of the band, I know that she left sometime in the middle of their Imaginaerum tour for reasons the band decided not to explain in great detail and why should they? They already experienced a bad time with their first singer after awhile and it took a lot of time and effort to find someone else that they wanted to be lead singer for the band. What I do know is that Floor Jansen was kind enough to step in and continue the band's tour for Imaginaerum. At the time they said they were just grateful and they were not thinking about who would eventually be their lead singer or when or if the band would continue on. It just so happened that Floor seemed to really work out, the fans really like her, and the band feels good playing together with her. So there it is. I think She's actually the best singer they've had so far just in singing ability and vocal range. They all seem happy about it and I look forward to their future together.

Also by the way, their new album not only features Floor as their new singer, but also a different drummer and another new member to the band. Jukka, their former drummer for many years is having too many issues with insomnia and so had to make the decision, at least temporarily maybe, to depart from the band.

I grew up with Nightwish because my oldest sister loves them. I'm not a fan of what I as a kid used to call noisy music, but nightwish have a few songs i really enjoy. Nemo was my favorite. Imaginarium was overall a great album. Élan sounds good too.

Nightwish is my favorite band since 2005. Just found this thread and felt that I should post here something meaningless

I knew about Nightwish for a few years, but i just recently really got into them though. Mostly because Floor became the new singer (which got quite some attention here in the Netherlands, since she's Dutch), and after that i began to listen more and more to the music. And when Endless Forms Most Beautiful came out, i decided to buy the record (and i really don't buy records that much). Don't regret it ever since!

Nightwish is a great band, actually the one band who made me fall in love with the Metal genre. And yes Floor Jansen is a great singer, and I feel like I can't say it often enough, I believe she's the best female singer they've had so far. Most of the time I just tell people that Tarja wouldn't have been able to pull off the crazy sounding part in Scaretale while Anette should never try to sing Ghost Love Score, but Floor on the other hand can combine those two. She can pull off both and when I heard the live version of GLS sung by Floor it gave me goosebumps, so beautiful!

I heard Nightwish before but never get into them until a few days ago. I started to listen them more often now and i think all of their 3 lead voices are really good. Even though Tarja's preffered more by people, i dont have a more favourite one from them

Always dreamed to see such a stuff from Avril... My favourite part in this video begins from 5:44 where the 10 y.o. Arthur Horeanu covers eternal hit Nemo and the funniest aspect is that he himself commented about this cover under this video LOL
