Although I've been a fan of Avril's since the beginning, I didn't discover Bandaids until June 2009, when I was searching for information about GL. I must have Googled for it and BA was the first thing that came up so I checked it out. I lurked around for awhile and then finally made an account, it was a long while before I finally posted anything. It's been almost 7 years now that I've been here. I was 16 when I discovered BA and I'm almost 23 now. This site has been such a big part of my life.

Before I discovered BA I didn't really keep up with Avril and her career because it was hard to find stuff online about what she was doing. BA has made it so easy for me to keep up with all the latest news, songs, videos, press, interviews, photos, etc. about Avril. It's a lot of fun to discuss everything, especially a new album and new album cycle with people who are just as passionate about it as you are. Everyone "gets" each other here. We can say stuff like "The UMS era is my fave because of DTM and MHE and Evan is her best guitar player and the Inked magazine cover from 2009 is the best" and people will know exactly what you're talking about, without any explanation needed, because we've all followed the exact same stuff.

I know many members, old and new, who have made real life friends because of Avril and because of BA. There is no other fansite and no other fandom like BA. How many fansites can say they have been around for over a decade? Or that they've personally met their idol or even that they got to interview her? We are one of the very few fansites that has such a close relationship with the person we represent. BA has also made it possible for other fans to get to meet Avril and attend special events and that's really special.

We've also gone above and beyond the average fansite by creating our own magazine, holding contests, and even our own award ceremony in an effort to bring the community together beyond just Avril. How many fansites can say that they have their own magazine, or their own awards?

The community has been through a lot, from site changes to staff changes to members coming and going. But after 14 years it's still here and still supporting Avril Lavigne and I hope it continues for many more years. Happy Birthday to the Best Damn Fansite!
