I know we all want to know. Some want to know about Avril Lavigne. Some want to know about music, movies, anime, books. People want to know about millions of different things. But at the end of the day the important is that everyone is a little bit smarter than the day before. A exception: "Some people runaway from knowledge (they want to keep being ignorant people)." Curiosity is a great thing for me. I'm curious about hundreds of different things. I like science and knowledge because this things give us understanding of the world and of ourselves. And with more knowledge we can treat other people and the environment better. This thread is intended to be about "science" things that are interesting or amazing for someone. But all kinds of discovers and interestings things are welcomed too.Everyone can post here a discover of a new substance or a new lost tribe in the amazonian jungle. A new theory for explaining beehives or anything else that can be interesting. Try not to post things in wrong threads. See if another thread suits better before posting. If you want to talk about real outer space, try this thread: avrilbandaids.boards.net/thread/1214/outer-space-threadI want to put some websites here: www.goodnet.org/articles/1048 7 Websites that Will Spark Your Intelligence www.ebizmba.com/articles/science-websites Top 15 Most Popular Science Websites | June 2016 . www.howstuffworks.com/www.livescience.com/www.sciencedaily.com/www.sciencedirect.com/www.scientificamerican.com/www.popsci.com/I usually read news in spanish: www.muyinteresante.es/www.quo.es/es.gizmodo.comfrancis.naukas.com "Francis Villatoro. The research lays the groundwork for 'mapping' the gene activity in the human brain and could help provide a better understanding of brain functions and disorders, including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, schizophrenia and depression. www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/06/160623065051.htmSuccessful first observations of galactic center with GRAVITYDate: June 23, 2016 Source: ESO Summary: A European team of astronomers have used the new GRAVITY instrument at ESO's Very Large Telescope to obtain exciting observations of the center of the Milky Way by combining light from all four of the 8.2-meter Unit Telescopes for the first time. These results provide a taste of the groundbreaking science that GRAVITY will produce as it probes the extremely strong gravitational fields close to the central supermassive black hole and tests Einstein's general relativity. www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/06/160624110314.htmDNA testing challenges traditional species classificationDate: June 24, 2016 Source: Wildlife Conservation Society Summary: Experts have made a surprising discovery that could subvert the significance of traditional criteria used for species classification. Employing novel techniques to retrieve DNA sequences from thousands of genomic locations, the researchers were able to uncover an unusual case of cryptic speciation in the Streak-eared Bulbul [Pycnonotus blanfordi], a bird widespread throughout South-east Asian countries. Is this thread for discussion on newly done scientific research, or anything related to science and technology? Anything related to science and technology. Both new and old. The news is just a suggestion of topics to talk. An incentive. If you want to propose any other topic feel free to propose.
