I think they were going for something a little bit more dramatic than him just dropping dead I guess, ha ha. And thyarchery silent soul started a thread to ask if people would like more Harry Potter sequels or not.

I think there's going to be something called "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" Written by Rowling. But I don't know whether it's related with Harry Potter series or not.

She has already written it for charity, along with Quidditch Through The Ages and The Tales if Beedle The Bard. She has now written the screenplay for a movie based on the fictional 'writer' of Fantastic Beasts (its a textbook the Hogwarts students use in case you didn't know), Newt Scamander, and the movie will come out next year with Eddie Redmayne starring as Newt. It will be the first of 3 movies about Newt apparantly.

I simply LOVE the Harry Potter books! I've read them more often than I can count, at least 15 times, and they never get boring. The movies... well, the first and the second one were really good, the third one was good if you don't compare it with the book and the rest were okay/meh. Except for the sixth one - that was just... EDIT: the last two movies were good too but I think they could have been better. I didn't really like the acting sometimes, it seemed kind of forced. And Deathly Hallows Part 2 started really great but then there's this whole "Let's finish this the way we started.... together!" and Harry and Voldemort jumping off this bridge and then Voldemort can't even die properly, he just dissolves into a million pieces. I mean, wtf is that supposed to be about??? I always figured that the reason for Voldemort dying that way in the movie was because he had torn himself up into so many pieces that he did not warrant a normal human death, and there was so little of him left that he just withered away and fell apart to nothing. However, I do agree with you. It was strange and could have been done better.

My favourite one has always been OotP. The story got so interesting then and they were older and maybe just because it was the longest : )

Chamber of Secrets for me, though I laso love the last books. I think Rowling did improve her writing as the series continued, which is something that does give her credit as an author, specially since she needn't to. The books would have sold like crazy even if they were poorly written, so the fact that she kept working on the book's quality does show she was passionate about her work and wasn't writing just because of the money

My favorite book is the last one. At first (before reading the book) I thought "What? Harry, Ron, and Hermione won't return to Hogwarts? That sucks.". It turned out to be one of the best books of all time. I enjoyed it a lot because of ... everything. Before the last book was published the 3rd and 5th ones were my favorites.. simply.. because of Sirius, Lupin and Hagrid. Besides that, I just loved how everybody studied for their OWLs during the 5th year. And damn, Umbridge. Oh, Sirius. Why did you had to die? Can you imagine that JK almost killed off Ron?

However, I do agree with you. It was strange and could have been done better. I like your theory as to why they let Voldemort die like that in the movies. But, like I said, JKR's way of letting him die was so much better: it just showed that in the end there was no way of escaping death forever; without his horcruxes Voldemort was just a mortal human. And that's how he died: as a mortal human, simply hitting "the floor with a mundane finality, his body feeble and shrunken, the white hands empty, the snakelike face vacant and unknowing."

I think OotP is my favourite book. I just love how in every single chapter something happens that makes you go like "WHAAAAAAAAT??!!" And Umbridge, of course. I hate her more than Wormtail, Voldemort, and Bellatrix together but I guess it's a kind of love-hate: I love hating her (though sometimes she makes me want to throw the book out of my window...).

I'm happy she didn't! Ron is so cool I think someone once told me that JKR wanted to kill Arthur at some point but then changed her mind because if Arthur had died Ron would have been half-orphan and then Ron and Harry would have resembled each other too much. (You know, Harry as the orphan, Ron as the half-orphan. And Harry and Ron are actually supposed to be completely different: Ron with his large family, pure-blood, and poor; Harry without any proper family left, half-blood, and rich). So instead, JKR killed Fred. I'll never forgive her that

^As a Malfoy would say, there were far too many Weasleys, apparently Lupin was one of my favourite characters, and when he got killed I was like WHY! I didn't like Sirius that much in Prisoner of Azkaban-not even after the plot twist revealed he was the "good one" but I grew to like it in the following books-though, I have to say I can see the point in his death and that it was somehow necessary in the story line. Killing Ron, on the other hand wouldn't have been a wise decision, he was often the comic relief character, and I think his "normal-ness" was needed to balance Harry's privileged status (and his Byronian-like doomed fate) and Hermione's culture and intelligence. I also read somewhere that one of the things she regretted after writing the books was to have had Hermione and Ron married, because they were too different from each other and she believed the relationship wouldn't last for long. As for me, I was happy to see them finally together; maybe their marriage wouldn't be picture-perfect, but you could see that they loved each other. Oh, and I love Luna Lovegood too. The chapter in the Deathly Hallows when they go to her home and see her room and realize how much she appreciates them is just so touching, you see that none of them realized that they were so important for her. I also love the fact that, although she has this "Looney Luna" label on her, she's the only person that doesn't crumble down psychologically after being a Voldemort prisoner in the Malfoy manor for months.
