Radio Disney back then was VERY pop-punk/pop-rock, all of the Disney boys and girls were making that kind of music, and for some reason Avril was always huge on Radio Disney. I wouldn't read too much into the reference, I think she's just citing it as a place to hear kinda boy-bashing bratty pop/punk. I think it's cool she name-checked IDHTT instead of a single!

Arguably TBDT is her personal magnum opus; the sound/vibe has become her signature one and she continues to embody that persona (MFP).

Unfortunately, she did it AGAIN at a show in London with her full band. It was SLIGHTLY better. there was really bad crowd cam footage from it.
edit i found the audio:
i remember the video being odd cause she was wearing her Flying V guitar but doing nothing with it haha.

How did those songs chart? If the songs were never out as promo singles. Were there internet sales back then too? Or how did Billboard know people were listening to those songs a lot. iTunes

Old Avril Lavigne Bandaids Interview?
noo I remember this; in early early early bandaids days, there was a very brief period of time where they would use that logo page for things that had been ripped by/for bandaids.

Yes! had this article never come out, i'm POSITIVE that we would have never heard Take It; this came out during the Mall Tour (before the UMS tracklist had been released) and bandaids went on a huge Take It campaign, screaming PLAY "TAKE IT" at every single show haha.

everyone has glommed way to hard onto this theory that she's planning her release around Mod's. there has not even been a hint of confirmation that this is what's happening.

I remember he was a member on old Bandaids and he gave a bit of tea about this whole thing... I think he said she was nice but kind of awkward and he also asked her about Daydream and she kind of said that maybe she'd use it for something else later on.

Too Much To Ask is a good example of when her overly simplistic lyrics really capture the moment/sentiment. you can HEAR a 16/17 year old girl in that song. It's songs like this that really reaped the Alanis comparisons way back when.

I Always loved that Video. Knows someone where i Can hear the whole Demo Version of anything But Ordinary (2:22)? That version has never cropped up anywhere, unfortunately. I remember making a thread about it in the Request Media forum on OG bandaids in 2003 haha.

is this even gonna be a real acoustic version? or is she gonna paste her studio vocals as she's been fond of doing GL-present?

I agree with some of you. I don't think Avril fully wrote her first album. However, I believe she contributed in some kinda way (by changing a few words, giving ideas, co-writing, etc). At the end of the day, she was an inexperiended teenager from a small town in Canada, she must have been helped all along.
On the other hand, Clig Fabri claimed Avril was never a punk rocker when they first met. If you check photos of her prior to 2002 you can see she wasn't a tomboy skater girl who had no (girl)friends. Years ago I read that she saw some artist (can't remember who) while working on Let Go and copied the tie plus the Converse All Stars idea from him.
As for The Matrix, well, back in the day I also read that Avril didn't write Sk8er Boi and that the lyrics were based on Lauren's life (she loved dancing, she had always dreamt of a career as a ballet dancer, you know who the story goes then.) . Whether all these stories are real or bullsh*t, we will never know. Butch Walker is the one who claimed Avril copied the tie idea from him. I don’t think Avril’s style was as developed in her early years as it was when she started LG, but I do believe she was somewhat of a tomboy/skater/athlete in her childhood. She may not have had the means to dress how she wanted back then or her mom made her dress up for gigs. But yeah there’s also stories from people who knew her that said she was a nice kid, a great babysitter for their kids, and there’s plenty of photos of her with girl friends. As we’ve speculated in the past, the media and record label (and partly Avril herself) probably exaggerated her image to sell records. She's changed the trajectory of her childhood a million times; in the beginning of her career it was that her parents were super strict (allegedly not allowed to listen to the song Strawberry Wine because it had the word "wine" in the title) and she was a rebel and hated school and was only friends with skaters etc and then at some point she spoke about her mom taking her to a Britney concert and then some other point she revealed she was a theater kid, and then the things above-mentioned. There is room for all of this to be true but yeah, it seems pretty malleable to whatever narrative is convenient!

Oh I never knew it was Deryck who did that! Shame. I dislike the high pitched voice!! One thing I’ll never I understand is why it appears like Complicated was re-recorded for the Budokan concert, her voice sounds totally different than the rest of the concert and you can tell the audio is dubbed over. Haha omg i remember when the Budokan DVD came out, i made a thread about this on the forum at the time and everyone DRAGGED ME TO HELL saying that it WAS her singing live and she has sung the song so many times so obviously it was going to be perfect and Avril NEVER USES AUTOTUNE and it was so funny cause it's SO obvious and it's done so sloppily. They even forgot to rerecord the final "no no no".

The Matrix thing is kind of dicey because the Let Go songs they did were really their first big mainstream smashes; and Avril was being marketed as a wonderkid songwriter at the time, which for them would have been bad for business and also a bit of a kick in the teeth, because they wouldn't be getting the recognition or credit that they earned; this was also a kind of different time when people weren't talking so much about behind the scenes songwriters and such. They were pretty adamant about her lack of notable input when this was all happening but now Lauren has backtracked a lot, directly contradicting what she had previously said and remembers their time writing those songs fondly etc. Her life has taken a big turn, etc etc; she was a podcast guest on the show And the Writer Is... if anyone hasn't heard it yet!
Anyway, it's a lot of she said/she said/she's now saying/we never said so whatever.
I think the only thing we can all collectively 100% agree on, without any proof, is that Avril had absolutely nothing to do with the bridge of Anything But Ordinary lol.
