Wasn't it supposed to stop on October 7th ? I guess they have changed to 'until we reach the goal' I found it pretty embarassing though, it was barely 15 000 $ yesterday morning I couldn't help thinking it was Avril or one of her famous friends who made that donation.

It happens every time during the bday campaign It run overtime and a generous donation on xx thousands is given by the last 48 hours Maybe they let it stay open just to see if they get the 50k?

It's pretty sad that Avril has to donate money to her own cause. But maybe it was Chad or somebody, who knows.

I honestly didn't understand what these money are for.. for lyme yes but what does it mean?
Lyme disease is very hard to find out.. but when you find out the cure itself kinda exist.. it's a long long treatment and that's it..
Secondly, obviously these organizations are limited in specific countries.. Of course it was only in the US, it doesn't mean they are not good!! Anyway, I live in Italy, I care about italian National Health System which is the #2 in the world until last year (this year we'll see..) so I decided not to donate anything, just because I didn't feel like this donation was my cup of tea.
Regard the big amount of money given last minute, it happens every year, it's just embarrassing.

Regard the big amount of money given last minute, it happens every year, it's just embarrassing. The money goes towards families who need treatment but can't afford it. They said that most insurance companies will not cover the costs of Lyme treatment, so that means those families have to pay out of pocket for it, which can cost thousands of dollars. There are cures for Lyme but it is not necessarily easy to do. It's not like getting a cold and taking some NyQuil and you're all better. If you catch the disease early enough, you can probably get 100% better if you start treatment early. But if you don't get diagnosed until later, you may be too far along for treatment to really be effective or you may never get back to 100%. It greatly depends on how soon you get diagnosed and how quickly you're able to start treatment. The treatment itself, as far as I know, is a series of antibiotics. Your body eventually builds up an immunity to a certain antibiotic which then has to be switched out with another. It's a very tricky process. So yeah technically there is a "cure" but it is not easy at all.

So yeah technically there is a "cure" but it is not easy at all. Oh thank you very much now it's super clear. I sometimes forget in US you have to pay crazy amounts of money to be cured.. As far as the treatment, I honestly didn't know because if it's truly all about antibiotics it's seriously dangerous!! You said it right your body builds up immunity so you have to switch antibiotic again and again.. the very dangerous thing is that if in your life, maybe 30-40 yrs later you get a particular bacteria and there are only few antibiotics which can help, but you already used them back then in time and now you have immunity, you're in danger of life. I heard that almost 50% of people treated with antibiotics die every year worldwide even for "stupid" illnesses just because they had immunity. I hope they also need money to find an alternative cure..
