This CD is one of my favourite albums. (other one is TBDT). I can imagine her next album will be a mix of her 3., 4. album. It has really good songs such as Push, Wish you were here, Everybody hurts, and my big favourite is Smile. The cover is also beautiful.

To start off, it's not the best album. The order of the songs is a mess, half is trying to sound like mainstream pop and the other is a mix of piano ballads/acoustic songs that are nice but tiring if played too much. It starts with a lullaby to put you to sleep (I'm not a baby, I don't need that shit) it's nice but this album is not for that audience so why start it off like one? Just because it has Lullaby in the title doesn't mean it needs one. Then it ends with the most boring song ever, Goodbye, it's supposed to be emotional but it just bores me to tears.
The first half of the album has decent songs. Push has lyrics that are so Avril, I can relate to them. The beats tho I would have preferred weren't there, it overshadows the vocals and acoustic guitar. SST is also such a good song probably my favorite on the album. It's great to sing along to. Smile is also great way better than WTH, the guitar, the lyrics, may have fit in TBDT.
The rest of the album some not quite piano ballads. Not Enough and Remember When probably about her divorce (but Deryck produced them? her relationships are SO WEIRD) are good but once in a blue moon. If I'm in the mood I can listen to NE on repeat and RW climax sounds so good. The intro of the drums, her voice it sounds so good. "I'm not coming back, I can't pretend". Darlin and EH also good songs to listen to when you're in the mood. I really relate to them when I'm down.
Alice is the best song on there. But it was written for a movie. It did not need to be in this album. Should have just put it on the deluxe album only as an extended track.
Jeez I thought this was my favorite album but I kept holding myself back from burying it.

Goodbye Lullaby is by miles better than Let Go and Under My Skin (the later one being the most overrated album this decade). You can hear that she didn't write a single lyrics in Let Go and Under My Skin is bad mainly because of the lyrics she wrote (read: ripped out her diary that she wrote when she was 12). GL stood the test of time because of it's minimalist production, while UMS is just unbearable and sound very dated. Let Go has better highlights (the first three singles) than Goodbye Lullaby, but literally every other track is just below-average. On GL at least every song is good, not great but it at least has the overall quality her first two albums don't have. Let Go is popular because of its nostalgic sound, and not because of its non-existent quality. LOUDER SESTRO

I love this era and album. What the Hell Smile, Alice and the whole idea of the album. the hit videos, With her appearance and inspiring self, It was different and mixed. They couldn't tell what kind of artist she is because she's everything. But we always knew that. we knew she was special and an extraordinary artist

GL used to be my favourite of her records. Then, for quite a long while, I considered it only okay - maybe a little bit better than TBDT, but no way better than UMS and LG. But now I just listened to it again for the first time in months and I realized that it's actually pretty good. Sure, it has quite some weaknesses: the production is meh, the drums sound fake and are pretty boring most of the time, the lyrics aren't that good, every single song follows the same melodical pattern, and WTH and Smile are kinda unfitting (though I do like them, especially WTH). But then there's Avril's voice - she's got such a vocal range! It might sound a little high-pitched sometimes (because of the mediocre production?), but I personally can ignore that. And I think that despite the rather weak lyrics you can really feel the emotion in a lot of the songs; listening to songs like "Goodbye", "Everybody Hurts" and "Not Enough" almost makes me cry because I can totally feel how much that divorce from Deryck must have hurt her. And then there's "Darlin", my absolute favourite off this record. Listening to Avril singing "I wish you could be happy instead. There's nothing else I can do but love you the best that I can" makes me cry my eyes out. All in all, I think it's a very good album; I definitely like it more than TBDT and especially AL. It could have been better, though (e.g. decent drums and production), but oh well... shoulda coulda would xD She went in a different direction, I wouldnt say its better. She has amazing songs on there and she still had her pop punk rock mixed in. she was influenced by Gwen Stefani, No Doubt and Green day,.No Doubt was influenced by the Cars. Now the Cars are in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

This is her second best album due to her amazing vocals. She really put her heart in every song and i love the backing vocals in Push, Everybody Hurts. I dont find this album boring like many fans do, maybe because i love the ballads and really the album is not monotonous like Under My Skin. Her new voice suits more in this style than her past pop-rock and that's a fact. Lyrics are too basic coming from a grown-up woman..but she isn't that great songwriter in the first place so...

Black Star is from a fragrance advertisement so it's basicly not a GL song like Alice. Push should've been switched with WTH to make a good opener.

It's a pitty most fans chose Smile for 2nd single instead of Push. It would have been great to have Avril and Evan together again. Luckily we saw them in HTNGU.

I honestly don’t think that poll really mattered. There’s no way they would have seriously released Push as a single over a Max Martin song. Considering there were exactly 4 Max songs, it’s pretty obvious they were written with the intention of being singles.

I've always listened to music based on how I feel at that moment. And in my review I chose Smile over WTH which was a mistake. I love the intro to Smile but WTH is such a fun song. I'm glad that it was a first single because she's less likely to take it off the setlist.
Also Push is really good, mostly the lyrics. Though I really can't stand the instrumental beats and autotune. I wish it was more stripped like WYWH. I prefer the live version of Push.
