Black Star is from a fragrance advertisement so it's basicly not a GL song like Alice. Push should've been switched with WTH to make a good opener. It's a pitty most fans chose Smile for 2nd single instead of Push. It would have been great to have Avril and Evan together again. Luckily we saw them in HTNGU. Sadly I didn't noticed it. Colbie did it for her 3rd single too and the poll was open for over 1 year and my least fave song won. |

Colbie had the same poll on Facebook and my least fave one (I already knew it after I've heard the album) won it. Mostly my least fave songs are well liked by everyone. |

Don't know why Smile is so hated, let's forget about the crazy bitch and shit for a moment and focus on the lyrics. They tell a story and have creativity and originality: the second verse is genious.

The verses stink. They just sound like they’re part of a different song. The chorus is one of her best but the song is ruined by those verses. Stupid lyrics. You may be able to overlook “crazy bitch” and “you’re fucking crazy” but there is no overlooking “Last night I blacked out I think, what did you put in my drink?” The chorus is great and could have given the song a much sweeter meaning. The verses totally ruin everything about it, from the sound to the lyrics. That’s why many fans hate it.

Ok, maybe that verse can be offensive, but the other part is great : ''i remember making out and then, i woke up with a new tattoo, your name was on me, my name is on you''. I always liked that part. |

^ I have always liked that part myself - I think Smile is one of those you either love or hate; personally I have always loved it and I can get past the lyrics. But to be 100% honest, I found myself listening to it more (and taking it 100% seriously) when I was younger, so there's that.  |

The older i've got, the more I appreciate GL and it's a good album to have on when I feel like relaxing. I'm a big fan of Smile and WYWH as singles, and I really like Everybody Hurts, Not Enough and 4 Real. I probably listen more to this album than UMS now.

I felt that too when I replayed all her albums awhile back. My opinions have changed a little bit I think. I used to think GL was boring and it's still not an album I'd play on repeat all the time, but it's not nearly as boring or bad as I once thought. There are some good songs on here. I used to think 4 Real was dreadfully boring, but it's kind of nice to have on in the background. Not Enough and Darlin are 2 of the best songs IMO. I still think Everybody Hurts is overrated and could have had better lyrics, but I also think in general it's still a decent song and I can see why people like it. I like Stop Standing There too.

^ GL is nice to have in the background. Not long ago I went to play WTH and ended up listening to the whole album. Without noticing, I was in the last few songs.

I didn't know many fans hate Smile, I love it, it's one of my all time fave Avril's songs.
This is probably my favorite Avril era, I liked the singles but WYWH would have been better as the lead single, the music videos, the interviews, the tour, etc. I would have loved Everybody Hurts as the 4 single but she switched to Epic.
