Hey guys, I've decided to create/host an Avril-related talk-show! While it isn't an official BA show, it'll be backed by BA and will mostly feature people/topics from BA. I'll write up a little FAQ to answer the questions you probably have
Who are you and why are you here?
Some jerk on the internet. Can't answer the second question.
Fair enough. What is this talk-show, exactly?
I want to make a Skype video-style talk-show where I (and perhaps a second host if anyone is willing to volunteer) talk to Avril fans about Avril-related topics. I think it'll be a great way to learn more about each member/build community and discuss topics about Avril in a way that might not come across as naturally on a message board. The show doesn't have a title yet, but I would like to keep it general enough to attract all Avril fans to watch it.
What type of format will the show have?
Until there's more interest, it'll be me and one guest talking for about 45 minutes (this is just a guess. I have no idea how long it'll take in reality). I'm thinking the format will look like this:
- Mini-interview with the guest about his/her history as an Avril fan
- Briefly going over and giving our thoughts on Avril/BA-related news (for example, if I were to create an episode of the show today, we would talk about the ABAs, the rumored AL6 producer, etc)
- One main topic chosen by the guest (examples: our expectations for AL6, going in-depth on a particular song or album, experience of being a male/female Avril fan)
- Quickfire Q&A/comments from the community
This format will change depending on what you guys like and don't like. In terms of how the show will be presented, I'm thinking it'll look something like this:
Just talking about looks by the way - ignore the subject matter, tone and length of the example video. By the way, if you have any video experience and know how I could easily set up something like this, please let me know. The overall vibe will be pretty chill and low key
Edit: Used a different video cause it's a slightly better example.
How often will you release new episodes?
I'm not sure yet. I don't know how long it takes to produce something like this yet, and I don't have a list of guests lined up. Right now I'm hoping one of the mods will guest on the first episode, and I'm not really sure beyond that. Part of why I'm posting this thread so early in the process is to see if anyone would be interested in being a guest. To (sort of) answer the question though, I hope to release them somewhat regularly.
Sounds cool. I might want to be a guest. What do I need?
A somewhat flexible schedule and a webcam (laptop cameras work too!). By the way, anyone is welcome to guest on the show no matter how active or inactive you are here. Interested in talking to as many fans as possible . You'll be glad you guested when Avril herself appears on the show by episode 18
I'm not sure I want to be a guest (yet) but I like the idea of the show. Is there any other way I can help?
I'm pretty realistic about this and understand that some people probably won't be interested in being a guest. I'm hoping that more people will be interested in guesting once they see the first episode and realize that it's a fun and low-pressure experience. However, if you don't want to be a guest, there are several ways you can help. I don't have much experience setting this stuff up, so you if have any idea how to setup a show like this, I'm all ears. I would also like feedback on what you'd like to see. Beyond that, just posting in this thread and showing your support for the idea would be greatly appreciated. I don't expect that much interest at first, but even 5 people showing interest in watching the show would mean a lot to me . It'll also show the staff that it's a project worth investing time and resources into.
Curious to see what you guys think . If you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them.
Update:
- Figured out how to display and record two webcams at the same time (I think)
- Got a couple of guests lined up (In Wonderland and marliz.!)
Still to be done:
- Come up with a title
- Get artwork for the show logo, opening title card and template for the screen that displays the two webcams
