[ALBUM THREAD] The Head Above Water Thread

I think HAW did well in terms of sales considering how little promo it had and even with just one performance that wasn’t even the whole song it returned to the iTunes Charts at a pretty high number. But apparently her streams are not good and the chart position on Billboard peaked at like #64 or something, extremely low in comparison to her other lead singles. So it’s not about even comparing her to other artists but comparing her to herself.

That being said, the lack of promo is to blame but we don’t know if the lack of promo is because BMG is a smaller label or Avril isn’t healthy enough to do lots of promo or what.

I really think if some people are getting THIS upset and angry about it they probably need a break. It’s just an album. Yeah they are handling things poorly and the numerous delays are irritating but it’s just an album. It’s not a matter of life and death. Chill out. If you act this way in all matters of life you have a problem. It’s not just with Avril, you have an anger issue if stuff like this really winds you up this much. Maybe take a break and chill out and get some perspective or something.

If she releases a Christmas song or EP it probably won’t be that successful if they don’t promote it but at this point in her career I don’t think Avril or her fans should be that overly concerned with commercial success. She releases music because she enjoys it and she loves Christmas music. She already had her time on the charts and being successful. She probably doesn’t care about it anymore but just wants to make music she enjoys. Who knows, it could even be an original Christmas song which would technically count as new material.

I really get pissed with this “it will flop anyways” thing as well. I mean, are people fans only when success is happening and they can show off their “diva” on the internet or is the music that is worth it? In my opinion Avril’s album can flop hard, if the album is great to me I’ll love it!
Of course I want her to be successful, but I won’t be acting childish and being against her if she can’t get a #1 to please me. As I said, as long as the music is good, whatever

“HAW flopped, deal with it”! And? It’s still a good song, nothing changed. Isn’t a song for all moods, but not being a first didn’t suddenly make it a mediocre song!

Honestly with Avril who knows when it will come. But my bet is they start promoting next year. Hopefully a single in January and closer to the release date they may put out 2 more songs. All of this is based on how I see a lot of my favs release music.

Anyway, a winter single would be great. And, from what she has teased (xmas rumors and speculations aside 👀), it does seem like the new video is for one of her upcoming album tracks. It doesn't seem like it's an uptempo pop track either, which I'm thankful for. Sure, it's been a lot of waiting, a lot of frustration sometimes, but it looks like they are finally letting Avril do what she wants (give her what she wants, 'cause she's a big shot!), and that's what matters tbh.

I still have a lot of expectations for this album —whenever it comes—, and I feel like she will deliver talenT.
