I thought a bit of levity might be fitting here. With everyone locked down, here is what some creative ladies have done during their lock down.

It just feels like such a shit show in the uk. The new advice is just leaving people baffled. I know my plans are nothing compared to all the lives that have been lost etc but damn It was heartbreaking having to cancel my wedding in April. At this point, I doubt we'll be getting married this year. I've been out of work for nearly 60 days. Life's weird.

^ Oh man, sorry to hear about your wedding! I feel bad for people who had weddings coming up this year, or other big important life events like graduations, prom, these huge milestones people and kids have been waiting their whole lives for, just to be taken away from them. It's so sad. Yes people's lives are important, but that doesn't mean we can't also feel bad about missing out on huge life events. They are both huge losses.
My cousin is getting married next May, I wonder if it will still happen by then. It's an outdoor wedding though, I don't know how many guests they plan to have but our family is not that big. I would think it could still go on as planned by then and even if the virus is still a threat, like I said, it's outdoors. We can easily space people out if needed. The only issue might be the hotel, it's in another state, so everyone will have to get a hotel for the night.
I hear you about the unemployment thing. I found out I was getting laid off long before this virus stuff happened, it was for reasons that have nothing to do with the virus. It sucked because we had been given something like 45 days notice and I started looking for another job immediately but then the virus shut everything down. Now there is no knowing what businesses are going to look like, even a few months from now. A lot of people are out of work right now. A lot of businesses have had to close permanently. Even when businesses can reopen, their first priority getting back is probably not going to involve going through hiring tons of people. The whole situation is so uncertain right now. The job search is a pain in the ass under normal circumstances, let alone what we are dealing with now. On the other hand, there is some small comfort in the fact that a ton of people are in the same boat right now.

I mean some folk dont have the common courtesy not to plop their towels and baggage almost on top of you, but per se beaches shouldn't be treated as subway trains, as they are literally ventilated by the oceanic winds, and are under nearly constant UV radiation. All the condemnation in Cali by the "guv'nor" over beachgoers was a bit too much, and neither Florida nor SoCal experienced spikes of infections corresponding to those masses visiting the sea.

I've felt on off guilty about feeling sad about my wedding but like you say huge losses. <3 Yes the fact that a lot of us are unemployed does make it feel a little better. It's been years since I've been unemployed and it is weird. Though tbh, I'm also thankful that I'm not in one of those shops that are still doing take away as I wouldn't feel safe working so closely with the public currently.

So, some smaller countries in EU are opening up cinemas, church masses are allowed in most countries AFAIK, and the Vatican allows crowds of up to 200 people. In other news, good stuff from Oxford! Their chaddox vaccine stops Monkeys from getting corona pneumonia, and they now say they'll have at least 30 million doses available by September if all goes right, and not only one million, like predicted just a edit: a month (!) ago.
P.s. Also Moderna's vaccine might be ready by autumn, as it shows it works well on 48 test subjects at minimum dose!

In Holland they're opening a lot with a maximum amount of people but honestly I think it's way too early. I think a lot of new people will get sick and so it keeps spreading..

I noticed they cancelled the Dutch football league, and said it won’t be back until there’s a vaccine. So I’m surprised to hear this, what’s opening?

Well, I would share what Austria is planning but honestly I fell off the wagon, there are press conferences all the time, announcing what is next, how the numbers are etc. ... we have many stages for different things to open, those graduating from school have gone back to school at the beginning of the month, some younger ones are going back now, some older ones in June, reduced class size etc. university semesters are to be finished digitally, anyone finishing won‘t have a graduation ceremony (at least from my college) If I‘m not mistaken then events with up to 500 people may be held starting in August. Museums open at the end of June and other things... everything is really spread out, like very small shops were able to open after Easter, bigger shops, hairdressers etc. opened with May 2nd. Due to economical consequences there are many different way the government is helping people out, private persons as well as companies and the next bigger town promoted „city bonuses“, those are coupons you can use in town in over 140 shops. Per person max. 300€ but you only had to pay 75% of what you got, the rest is being paid by the city council. That way they want to help especially the smaller shops and I can’t say that I didn’t wait from 7 am to 8 am (opening time) to get myself coupons. I mean it’s hard but many people compare Austria to Sweden and considering their death rate... well, the actions have been right from my point of view. Although many people act as if it wasn’t that bad, our numbers are low, so why? Many don’t seem to understand that shutting down early was the reason for this. I have others complaining that their semester abroad got cut short. I mean, we’re talking about a pandemic and they complain about having to come home from Africa. Sometimes I can’t with people. Anyway, I‘ve been really starting to feel lonely despite living with my family and I never would have thought that I would say this, but I do miss seeing people. And distance learning, while technically working pretty well most of the time, is killing me. Workload has increased insanely and honestly I won’t be able to keep up my grades. But that’s just my personal struggle.

If I were an American I'd be calling for complete decimation of the military budget. Why? Pentagon has pressured for big budget checks for decades, ever since Saddam decided to slaughter the Kurds the world had the opportunity to hear about the dangers of "chemical, biological and nuclear weapons", and that the military needs bucks to make stuff to protect the nation and allies against those three threats. Corona is a biological threat. It may not be a weapon, but one of the big fears was that Al Qaeda would buy black market vials of dangerous viruses and release them somewhere in the civilian population. So, what was the Pentagon's reaction, contingency plan? They don't have one solution, One mitigation system, never mind a hollywood styled rapid vaccine development system. And on top of that, they've made fools of themselves with USS Roosevelt's clowning around Guam with a hull full of sick sailors. What a waste of dollars that could've been used to update aging infrastructure, or used to fund civilian R&D.

So you are advocating that us Americans pressure our government to spend more of our tax dollars on R & D to develop treatments and vaccines to help the world? Well, we are already doing that. We can do both. You’re welcome.
What is it we did in Guam that’s raised your ire?
