This thread had gone dead. But, the virus has not. I got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine today. I will get the second in three weeks. Anybody else? I was allowed to get it, because of my advanced age. I was wondering if anyone has gotten it, for a better reason. Like maybe, you have much more important things to do.

If I learned anything from this pandemic it is that I'm indeed far from a normal, functional human, who can face adversary normally, and secondly, that the world is very fragile and cruel. Our countries spent three decades throwing money into research how to defend from 'chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons', highlight being biological here. COVID isn't a weapon, but it is a biological hazard, and how were we prepared? There were no plans, no procedures, no reserves, and between America and Europe, more than a million people died. And our leaders? Macron spitefully undermined reputation of British Oxford vaccine, Gov Cuomo was hiding the numbers of dead caused by his policies, Boris Johnson was using the virus as a political stunt where he could waltz into hospitals until he caught it himself and ended up in intensive care. Von der Leyen's policy allowed Italy to prevent vaccines from being exported to Australia - which is like peak selfishness, and fiscal aid to unemployed has been piss poor for much of the time and much of the world, including in my country, which managed the crisis so badly that we're 3rd in the world in relative death numbers.
After all this I'm more than certain that in an event of a deadlier virus or an 'armageddon' scenario, or anything like it, we will be toast. If climate change is going to be as bad as many project then we're heading straight towards a doomsday scenario, because we don't have any meaningful capacities of a serious globally coordinated effort. All this sounds like severe exaggeration, and I was on the more optimistic side of things a year ago, but now I indeed see that world ran on luck more than anybody imagined.

You really should try to see the brighter side of things. We’ve been heading to Hell since antiquity and yet here we are in 2021......less people in poverty since the Stone Age. You worry way to much Grazzhoppa. 👳🏾♀️

Did you feel the shot? Some people are saying they can’t feel the needle prick for some reason. Any side effects? I felt the needle. Pain was minimal. It was no more, or less painful than any other vaccination I've ever had. The level of pain, of any intramuscular injection, depends on a wide variety of factors. Probably the most important variable, is the skill level of the person doing the injection. It is important the needle be inserted as straight as possible, to a precise depth, is held perfectly still while the plunger is depressed and is withdrawn at the exact same angle it was inserted. A higher level of pain will be experienced if the needle does not go in straight, is not held still, does not come straight, or the patient flinches or moves. Another factor is proximity to nerves and nerve bundles. That's just a matter of luck, because they can't be seen. The gauge (thickness), of the needle is another factor. This was a fairly thin gauge. The little bit I know comes from friends and relatives, in the profession. I experienced no noticeable side effects.

What I’ve heard is most don’t feel side effects after the first dose except maybe soreness at the site of the injection. However some may experience sickness for a few days after the second dose.
My state is doing it based purely on age brackets so I won’t be eligible until May. I work from home currently and go out rarely except to visit my fiancée or to the grocery store, so I’m really not bothered about waiting.

When people get fever after the vaccine it's an indication that it's working. Your body is reacting to it. Hope she is feeling better now.

I got my first vaccination about a week ago. Felt a bit ill for a couple of days and my arm hurt. Don't know why I was fast tracked. I am relatively young.
