I find one thing interesting and don’t quiet understand it yet. When in April-June the daily cases here in Switzerland were around 300 to 1000 cases daily they decided to do a shutdown except for stores that sell food or other important things. But now the cases are around 4000 daily we even reached 9000-10000 and after weeks they decided to do a „light“ shutdown again where they only close restaurants or museums. A lot of hospitals sent out warnings that the situation could get critical if the cases don’t drop. As for now the Canton where I live decided to close everything like in May/June. I don’t go to Uni again. Let‘s see where this goes.. If you are interested, the situation right now is: 10002 cases / 391 new hospitalizations / 200 new deaths everything since Friday

I'm 200% pissed. I live in Germany, we have around 30.000 (!) new infections per day. That's the official number, so who knows how much more people are infected and don't get tested. There are so many restrictions for the social life and none for work. I am angry about everyone who is travelling to visit their family during Christmas (of course a small number of people might have valid reasons) and I'm even angrier with our government that blames people for having "illegal social gatherings" when the schools are open and there are no rules for workers.
This is such a mess. And all the Germans felt soooo superior (as they usually do) because Italy and France and the US had such high numbers of cases while Germany was still looking okay. And now we are in the same situation.

It’s interesting hearing someone say this as we’re in a similar situation in the U.K and there’s so many people here criticising our government for how they’re handling things but other countries are doing the exact same. But yes I agree, it’s ridiculous I can’t see my parents but I can go into the office for 9 hours with a load of other people if I want to!

In Holland we aren’t allowed to own fireworks and blow them up on New Year’s Eve.... they used COVID as a lame excuse but I bet from now on we aren’t allowed with fireworks ourselves anymore..... what’s the point then? It was tradition to come together with my brother and sister in law and at midnight enlightened some fireworks... were not the kind of people to go to fully crowded places with a fireworkshow. You have to drive to such things... not cozy at all.

My dogs a nervous wreck on bonfire night and NYE due to fireworks, I hate to think of wildlife that isn’t safe inside when they’re going off though here people set them off two weeks either side too because people are idiots.

Yeah there a lot of people who are making bombs of a lot of firework and cause of those lame people we aren’t allowed with it ourselves... 1 of my cats is scared too but will hide behind the couch for a while. The other one sleeps through the whole thing or doesn’t pay attention to it. For us it’s weird to not do that anymore. What are you guys normally do on New Year’s Eve? Aside Corona rules?

Some people will have fireworks at home, but a lot of people spend it at the pub/in a club! We’ve always stayed in the last few years and just had a nice meal - I feel too old in a club these days

I think fireworks should be made illegal except for organised displays. They just annoy people and animals. I consider people that set off fireworks in their back garden to be quite chavvy and tasteless.
I wish the whole country would go into tier 4 now, total lockdown. There are more people in hospitals with the virus now than ever. I have to deal with the public at work and don't feel safe...and admittedly I would quite like a holiday.

I doubt this has to do everything with people crowding. In India too, they banned fireworks during Diwali this year too (people light lamps and burn crackers) for the same reason. On November 2, Gehlot tweeted, "State govt has taken the decision to ban the sale and bursting of firecrackers in order to protect the health of COVID-19 infected patients & public from poisonous smoke emanating due to fireworks www.dnaindia.com/india/report-diwali-2020-list-of-states-uts-which-have-banned-sale-and-bursting-of-firecrackers-2856450

People here don't blow fireworks a lot during New Year's Eve - they do it more during festival of Diwali (which originally has nothing to do with crackers - its festival of lights). Its the same time when farmers decide to burn the stubs on their farms after a harvest. I live in Delhi NCR in India and the pollution gets so bad - you can't do without a mask.. and even a mask can't stop your eyes from watering. I hate it.

We had neighbors near us setting off fireworks on April 1st. We walked by their home and the had a Happy April Fools Day sign on their lawn. Shake my head, lol.

Idk what will be better lockdown or not lockdown, but life must allways go on and I am scared that after this virus we will all become like sheldon copper and his friends from The Big Bang Theory, that scares me the most, even without virus we are becoming like him
In the hospitals in my country before 2 years situation was same as this year, just instead of hospitals full of people with corona, there were full hospitals of people with flu. Only this time TV news, media bombards us with information about corona.
IMO idk will lockdown help us at all, we all must go to job, what will be with little companies, crafts how many people live buy food for family because of money earned from small companies, they all will bankrupt (i dont believe that state have enough money to help them all enough time), and what will be with all these people and workers who work for them, what if in the end economical situation do worst than corona
Idk what will be better, I will leave that to the "experts" but whatever happen I just hope that when all this finish that we will all still be humans. I dont want that in the future neighbors run away from me, dont even want to talk with me, dont even want to say good day how are you. I dont even want to imagine what can happen to all these kids who will never have proper childhood and teen years, i dont want that we all became like robots without emotions. I just want that as all stay humans
