AL7 Album Speculations Thread

Here’s hoping Avril’s new album is like Miley’s Plastic Hearts. Never thought I’d ever say that.

So I listened to Plastic hearts out of curiosity and i have to agree that i don't want this sound for Avril either.

I mean, I like the album overall, it was a surprise coming from Miley. My favorites are Angels like you and High which are probably the least "rockier" of them lol. The album is definitely not pop-rock. It's like Dua Lipa but rockier lol. It's that classic 80's rock sound. That's why it sounds a bit outdated, it's not like it's something bad, as i said, i like the album. But I'm not sure if Avril is made for this genre. I can't picture her making "old" inpired music and when she did with Baby it's cold outside it sounded terrible, like if it wasn't her lol. Probably TMIO is the closest we can get and even that song was "modernized".

I think (if she goes pop.rock again) that she'll go for a more modernized version like Modsun, mixing trap and EDM elements, very subtle but still there to make it sound new. Or maybe we will get just classic UMS Avril idk. ((i'm still worried about the lyrics tho)). which btw, Miley's lyrics were kinda OK (?) was't expecting it. I didn't listen to the entire songs, just up to the first chorus but the lyrics seemed pretty solid idk.

I'm scared Avril will fill the album with swear words just to try to appear more edgy lol.... i personally don't like swears and kinda always kills the mood for me, especially if there are kids around lol and idk...i think words are more complex than just that. You can say horrible and disturbing or hurtful things without swearing u know. That's the edginess i like. It's like with the horror movies: you can go the easy way with jump scares and cheap "creppy imagery" or you can go into a more psicological way of scaring the audience, disturbing them and making them feel real scared, like not scared of a surprise visual effect on the screen but getting into their minds and making them feel uncomfortable and perturbed for the rest of the month LOL xD sorry for the offtopic xD

anyway, is it just me or Miley's voice is getting lower and lower with years?? LOL

Miley’s album is pretty good but it’s not the sound I would want to hear from Avril. I think she might do something like Listen with One Ok Rock, it was a modern sounding rock song that didn’t contain beats or trap elements.

WTH, RNR, HTNGU even DB sound pretty Disney, idk why. I mean, she kinda inspired the whole discography of Disney shows in the 2000's so it's ironic how she ended up sounding Disney when she inspired it lol xD

Can you describe what you mean exactly with that "Disney sound"? I find that an interesting descriptor that I've heard used many times but it seems like it doesn't always mean the same thing to everyone.
This. Since I only recently became a fan I of course like the direction she went in with the HAW album but I also really like a lot of her old stuff. I feel like if she keeps going in the direction she went in and adds in a few more rockier/upbeat songs filtered through the same level of maturity it could totally work and it would really suit her. Give us some variety on the album that mixes the new and brings back the old from a refreshed perspective. That would show us she's grown and that her work has matured while she can also still "be herself".

Whatever she is gonna do as long as put her heart in it. I don't want another self-titled disaster. TBDT is good because she did 

So you don’t want her to do TBDT because it’s not 2007 anymore but it’s ok for her to repeat a sound from 2004?

I don’t want repeats of anything she’s done in the past because it’ll sound dated as all hell. I’d really like something similar to TBDT but with more mature lyrics and themes. But no matter what she does it’s probably going to sound really outdated, if she’s insisting on going back to her pop/rock roots I hope she modernizes it a bit. Not interested in hearing something that sounds like it’s out of 2004.
