MGK seems the most likely right now since they worked together already. What is known about this? I read rumors but never saw them together in a studio. Just a photo together at a party or concert backstage

MGK seems the most likely right now since they worked together already. What is known about this? I read rumors but never saw them together in a studio. Just a photo together at a party or concert backstage It started with the picture. Then Travis Clark said this in an article.. eventually Avril started doing stories about MGK. [With Avril], she was like, “Hey, I see that you post pictures with your buddy Machine Gun Kelly. Do you think you would want to write? And I was like, “Yeah!” So I texted him. I was like, “Yo, you want to work on a couple [of] songs with me and Avril for her record?” And he said, “Absolutely.”
So that one specifically came about because when We The Kings played Los Angeles last, both Avril and Machine Gun Kelly were in town, and I invited them to the show, and they both came out. They had never met each other before, but obviously respected each other’s music. And we’re all sitting on our bus together, and then we play at the show and see the kids go crazy. And I feel like as an artist, that’s what really starts turning the wheels in your mind. So, the three of us just being in that setting really kick-started and ignited Avril’s idea for us to work with her and do something. So i think for Avril would be better to go into indie, cause she was good in Crush TMIO Love Me Insane i really like this "power-pop" sounds which Avril decided to discover and experiment with, BUt for now, i think the best way for her to make comeback pop-punk hits with ModSun and MGK just to bring back the nostalgia. And now Skater Boi is a real hype, so maybe they wanna make part 2.0? It wold be perfect for a "come back" single. Also i like Avril works with EDM music, so she can just make a couple of collabs for other artists in different sounds styles, cause her b=voice is perfect for everything.
So my dream producers are Jack Antonoff and Mark Ronson, Lauren but i think and hope in the future it is the only best way for her career, and now she just can make a real GOOD pop-punk album without any "bigger wow" songs which idk why were included. She sounds good in pop genre as in all leaked unreleased HAW songs, so if Avril could make an album like Bebe Rexha's "expectations" with guitar vibes that's would be awesome. Lauren Christy is a really good producer and i wish Avril can collab with her again, she is the savior of her career) Cause she wrote a lot good hits. And i think we also don't have to forget about promo, cause HAW have a really radio songs which really could be in top 10 of radio charts, but without promo no one even know about the existence of this songs.SO that's why collabs with different artists can make people to remember again. I just want her to make a whole themed album, like LG UMS TBDT which were in only genre. Cause she has diverse AL HAW and i just want her to make a whole thing again. Its so hard, cause Avril is not a pop, not an indie singer, so she is between smt undefined. I don't like modernized sound of pop-punk which is now mixed with rap, and it's not i want to hear from Avril, but for collabs it is okey, not for her album. Avril is a perfect ballad singer, and i always wanted some mature and acoustic album like GL, but HAW was unfortunately, more diverse than we expected. So if she make one TBDT 2.0 and second ballad album by Lauren that would be what i want.I like to hear ballads from Avril this is really her thing. And im not sure Avril will ever release full pop album, cause its AVRIL hahah, but to make a pop album with pop-rock instruments and sounds, would be the best decision!
Also, talking about Miley, i really like" Younger Now" sound and would like to hear from Avril something like this. U know when Gaga made Joanne and Miley released Younger Now, that wasn't commercially good, so we see most people still like pop and radio sound, so avril have to make an album for Fans, or commercial one. The music genres are becoming more blur now, and pop sound will always be the main, so Avril have only 2 ways: make a good pop album with pop-punk and guitar sounds for a big auditory (example Taylor Swift, but she has a huge fanbase) or to make a good alternative genre like pop punk or indie just for smaller people - her fans auditory only.
IDK, this pop-punk nostalgia is a key for Avril's comeback. I just want a good produced song from her, by good professionals, with interesting soud and lyrics, something melodical.
Avril is too "rock" to be in pop group, and too "not original and not unique" to be in team with Lorde, Hayley, Marina or Lana for example. She has to grown lyrically to their level. I think genres are really changing now, since Miley releases second rock influenced album, and Mark Ronson makes major pop hits (using guitars and this 80s rock vibes) so everything is rely on the producer itself. Avril can make a pop hit, sounds like her natural fave genre. So i wish Avril to become more into alternative artist, cause times have changed and she cant always be pop punk. HAW show her personal growth, and im really proud of her. She wont be popular anymore cause she was never in pop, but she can be a good artist among alternative divas) I want her to make good professional music, not even thinking to add a bit of "bigger wow, YASNT, RNR" disney kid songs which are literally about "NOTHING" to her albums, which ruin the whole concept of albums. She has to release all her masterpiece unreleased staff, for example IWLYG is everything to me.

I'm into Avril going indie. Falling Fast and GYWYL were an interesting part of AL that I wish she would have focused on more. I always imagine what she could set her mind to if she really goes outside her box. But Crush, TMIO, and LMI are not indie. They are soul/r&b/doo-wap/motown inspired pop songs. It is not indie at all. It's been a part of popular music since the 70s(?) and can still be heard today in some songs. I found it to be very refreshing for Avril to dive into that style of music. Her voice fits very well in it. but it seems other fans did not enjoy it that much.
I still think country pop is the way for Avril to go. It's actually not even country sounding at all. It's pop music with real instruments and clear vocals. In most songs you can even hear a guitar solo. How many songs has Avril had a guitar solo? RNR? I'd like to see Avril around the likes of Maddie & Tae, Lindsay Ell, Kelsea Ballerini, Gabby Barrett (I Hope), Ingrid Andress, Dan+Shay. Working with the songwriter Hillary Lindsay (wrote Shallow).
But pop punk/pop rock is her game. I constantly see Avril being mentioned whenever MGK or Halsey Miley came out with their recent music. It would be interesting to hear her delve completely into pop punk. She only has a few songs but she's shown she could thrive in it. I just don't know how she's gonna modernize the sound and write her lyrics. Tbh I don't trust her. It has to be done VERY well. John Feldman being involved gives me hope it will be done right. But we still aren't sure what is really going on. Someone said Modsun comes out with music weekly so maybe this week their collab will be out. But they're still in the studio. So is this really for Modsuns project or is it for Avril?
Whatever is happening I hope we get to hear it by early next year.

I think the solution is to find new producers .. good producers .. Many of their songs have a lot of potential and in the end they stay in little thing .. Or the instrumental is very weak .. I don't know. I have a feeling that the last album had good songs but they could have been even better. To me personally songs like bigger wow, crush, love me insane, goddes .. I see them weak. I mean, she spent years making that record and I think she could have put out better songs, more powerful ... A lot of discard songs that were leaked were better. My wish now is that she get together with mod sun, travis barker, machine gun kelly, yungblud ... and make a fun and rocker pop punk album (with mature lyrics) and for the ballads that lauren christy or deryck / chad helps her! A collaboration with billie eilish would also be nice. And it would be a very good promotion. You are so right.. some songs are so generic and weak. It’s like there’s effort in some songs but the rest are fillers. If she spends 2 years on an album the material needs to be much better..

What is sure is that she doesn't have too much time left. It's not fair but this is how the pop industry work, you have limited time to be a star and she's getting old. The whole pop-punk thing makes me worry bc it may make her look childish or "trying to stay forever young" u know, like those 40 yo parents that dress like straight outta 2010?? like that.
And if she's up to something, she better hurry and release something, otherwise, she will probably become an indie artists releasing only acoustics songs bc those are the easiest ones to make. no more fancy music video (it's not like we had one this era either SO...) no more big concerts, no more promo, just silence, even more.
I don't know if she realises this is probably one of her lasts chances.
AND I know this is not a rule. Sia succeeded when she "wasn't supposed to" BUT Sia had an original idea, a clear imagery, a character, a story. It was basically an art project or something, that's why she could make it and maybe luck.
If Avril flops this next era, she will have only those 2 options: become an indie-acoustic or country-pop artist OR make a Sia strategy. But I don't see her having such a good idea like that.
I'm worried about the lyrics, about her atitude if she goes back to pop-punk and basically worried this is her last chance. Let's pray it's not but...unless your name it's jennifer lopez or shakira and you'll work your ass out to stay in shape and be "sexy" and you'll accept whatever hit song they will sell you, you're not gonna make it past 40.

I think it's worth pointing out that while Avril is in her 30s, so are ModSun and MGK. This potential new wave of pop-punk music is being led by people who actually grew up with it. It's hard to tell what her lyrics will be like but she worked hard to write more poetically on HAW and hopefully that's stuck with her. Pop-punk doesn't have to be childish and hopefully if it's her own choice the lyrics will be better than on Al or GL for the upbeat songs. DB gives me some hope actually. That's an upbeat song but wasn't a "you're a mean jerk because you didn't do what I wanted" break up song or a "let's get wasted" party song.

So is this really for Modsuns project or is it for Avril? Whatever is happening I hope we get to hear it by early next year. Yes, u right, but i mean LMI or Souvenirs for example sounds like "Brave" by Sarra Bareilles or Resilient by Katy Perry something in this "Power pop" style. For indie i mostly mean something between pop-rock and live instruments, the brightest example is Jack Antonoff music. Atmosphere and guitars, and i think Avril can fit in perfectly here, if she tries to work with this producers. I figured out that on AL and HAW some potentially good songs have electric autotune transition between verse and chorus, like in Souvenir or TMIO or SOS the cheapest FX effect (when it silence and then goes BOOM), ahah don't know how to explain hope u understand. And it spoil the whole sound. That's what i hate in Avril music, cause this method makes good songs sound cheaper, i mean if some of songs were more smooth and sound not like 2 diff songs in chorus and verse. And i think HAW song would sound better without hard guitars in the chorus, which also makes the chorus unlikely more expressive and super loud. So the whole product only rely on producers, so it is the only reason for her to make a good material) Cause it feels like they have a formula for typical AL song and try to add it everywhere haha and now it has become boring. BTW I think the fact that HAW was mostly produced by Avril herself, it is much better than AL produced by a major label)

^ good points both of you. But I am more with ame on this one because women get shit on a bunch. And Avril? It's like they hate her specifically.
My question is what will happen after AL7 if she does go for pop punk? Going forward she can't make the same album again. So what will her music sound like then?
Right now though I say just wait it out and see. She's having fun. As long as the album is done well and not another GL, AL, HAW I'm here for it.

I've been thinking about this and for her 7th album the only things I really want from her are:
1. An effort to keep trying to improve her songwriting (including staying away from unnecessarily childish lyrics). 2. Better production, for the love of god. So many of her songs across the last 3 albums were let down because of weak production. 3. For her to be passionate about it and show it, not only in her vocal delivery on the album, but everything else that comes after that -- it's just painful to watch her be so seemingly disengaged while talking about her own music or not knowing what to say about her songs.
These are really the core things I need from her regardless of the genre she actually ends up going for. I'm all for her attempting a more rock-ish sound, tho. I definitely feel like it's time for a more upbeat album again and it seems both Avril and her fanbase feel that way too, so at least there's that.
Also it would be nice for her to finally get on with the times and release music next year if she has enough material rather than waiting until 2025 for no good reason. She can do so much of her promo from home these days, so it's not like releasing new music necessarily means she has to get rid of her comfort and be super active the way she used to be before -- which I definitely feel is something that concerns her.

i think if she can try EP format, she can just release all her old unreleased music in pop genre, if she want o concept on her album. Like it is so stupid to have such beautiful songs unreleased so we have to listen them without even streaming and paying for a really good material, and i hope she can understand it, or Lauren Christy too) So she can make a lot collabs, make albums and EPs, try to be diverse. And be for every genre we want her to hear. And if we had a chance to help her, if she could ask us what fans really want that would be better) Sorry, im just so sad a lot good songs like Bright, Dont Stop, In Touch and Lights Out didn't came out, and think they are just forgotten forever, until someone can see that this songs has a really good worth.
