AL7 Album Speculations Thread

Is it just me or it seems like Avril have became more active/passionate after the virtual concert? Maybe it was big wake up call for her and her team after all the negative comments.

I'm excited that she is going back to pop rock . Looking forward to "Flames"

When do you think they will record the video of flames? Modsun usually releases video very fast, maximum about 2 weeks of releasing their singles .. So if it really comes out on January 8th, they should record it very soon. I wonder if before or after Christmas.

He's wearing the leather jacket that Avril wore in the announcement video that was posted by this photographer guy. Seems like she was borrowing it from him

I've always loved the songs she has written all by herself/with minimum help from co-writers. So for me always changing up the co-writers and producers seems like a pathway to disaster. She should just trust herself and her gut feeling enough, rather than always writing with strangers who doesn't know who she is inside. Like how long has she known Mod Sun at this point?! Is it really sure he can help her to achieve brilliant songs that are true to her? I'm excited for a pop punk album for sure, but I'm not putting my trust in people I haven't got a clue who they are and how they could help her to improve.

Since GL she's always had at least 1 song she's written alone so she probably will do that again at least once but getting fresh ears on a song can always help. Especially with the music since she's not the strongest musician

I feel it’s possible they’ve already recorded the video, I don’t think her sudden obsession with motorbiking is a coincidence. I think it’s possible it will be in the video. Notice how she is posting lots of videos of her driving, either on the motorbike or driving in the car. And one of her stories was captioned “I need a ride or die.” Makes me think she might be teasing either a possible lyric from Flames or her first single from AL7. If they’re smart, they would actually release the single and video on the same day to increase streams, but we’ll see.

On the one hand, yeah ModSun hasn’t known her that long to be able to write super personal songs with her, but I don’t think that’s what they’re going for with this record. I think her collaborators this time around are there to help her carve out a particular sound more than anything else. She already wrote and recorded tons of songs with Pete earlier in the year back at her home studio, or maybe those were just demos that they’re now finalizing with a little editing input from the others. I think Avril knew she wanted to return to a pop punk sound but probably saw the fan complaints that she needs more modern and updated production, which is where these collaborators come in. Either way, I don’t think we can assume the music will be good or bad until we hear it. Everything sounds very promising so far but we’ll have to see what the finished product is like. I still don’t know how Skrillex is going to fit in with this and I hope she doesn’t sit on the album too long to the point she scraps all the good stuff.

It all depends on the record company. Everyone’s getting exciting about the prospect of these new songs and rightly so but are the record company even going to release them or put their foot down and go nope go and record this instead? It’s happened before. I realise it’s a different record company from previously so hopefully not the case.

I just hope the lyrics are up there. Her lyrics really improved with this album. Just because the sound may be less serious and radio friendly doesn’t mean the lyrics have to suffer as a consequence. Just no songs about school and getting ‘wasted’. You are 36 years old!

Randomly stumbled across a band called This Providence and a song called Let Down the other day. Would love her to release something like this or along the lines of +44’s stuff. I often listen to songs and think ahhh wish Avril would sing this!
