Let’s remember most of the tripod songs got scrapped, so we’ll never know what they sounded like. They might have been heavier tracks, but Epic being a terrible shit label teamed her up with pop producers and writers last minute to record HTNGU, RNR and other pop songs which were horribly produced and turned out to be massive flops.
Fortunately, BMG doesn’t seem to have that control over her and if they’re acting more as distributors than anything else, then she’s got it covered. At the same time, since pop-rock and pop-punk are making a comeback into more mainstream music, it’s her time to do this album. It couldn’t be more timely, so even if she has to respond to a label, I’m sure they’ll be onboard with it.
PS: if you check under the HAW album on Spotify, it says “Avril Lavigne Music & Entertainment under exclusive license to BMG”, whereas her older records either say “Epic Records” or “Sony Music” alone. She is no longer label-dependent...

She is no longer label-dependent... I'm sorry if I didn't explain myself, I wasn't talking about songs that may come later. I was just saying that the songs she is doing right now may not be as pop-punk as we think, maybe not more of what RnR was. I was just saying that even if they turn out to be something softer, we have to remember this moment of her enjoying doing these songs and being open about the process. These are clearly songs Avril wants to make, just like Dumb Blonde was. She was just as passionate about songs like 17 and described those songs like "rock" and even talked about "killer drums" that were never there. I just take Avril's concept of rock with a grain of salt. Besides, was it ever confirmed that the non-tripod songs from AL were pushed by the label? Maybe she was completely on board with making pop-hit material songs. Didn't she bring herself one of the producers (whose name I cant remember) of Team Avril for Hello Kitty first? PS. I do agree the current co-workers seem way more legit that the whole team she got AL. The production of those is either lacking or basic AF.

We can't really compare john feldmann who has like a 30+ y/o career with martin johnson who's credits as a producer back then was a hannah montana soundtrack. And mitch allan who did dumb blonde it's very disney driven when it comes to production as well. Not to mention the song it's like that on purpose? Just travis barker being envolved with his kick ass drums it's a statement that we won't get summer songs this time around. She's working with REALLY good people. Even modsun that it's not that well known seems to be very talented and hands on with instrumentation. I guess underproduced tracks won't be a problem this time around

The fact that Feldman is on this project eases my mind too. Avril can be loose with the word "rock" but not Feldman and Barker. It's the EDM influence around her that I'm more curious about. Also has anyone thought about the rap influence it may have too? Mod sun is or was a rapper.
And yesss Evan being a part of this project would be amazing!

MGK also is/was a rapper. I'm just really pleased that between Modsun and Travis Barker surely there has to be real drums. They would never let her use a drum machine on their songs. I think that will make a big, big difference

I'm pretty sure in the series of stories she posted in the studio we saw ModSun sitting at the drum kit and so was Avril, maybe even she herself is playing drums on the record, which she has never done before.

I only care about Travis Barker playing the drums. She is in the same studio where he recorded with MGK. The drums are right beside her. Now some guitar solos too. They can be subtle

I think it would be the best to actually release the video for Flames simultaneously with the song. Most of Mod Sun's fanbase is US based so even if the video is not right away released they will stream the song on streaming services. Avril's fan base is much more "global" and YouTube is the only service a big portion of her fanbase uses to consume her music. He would want to draw as much Avril fans as possible to the song, so I think that unlike with the other videos for his singles, the Flame one will be released on January 8.

Machine Gun Kelly as a rapper is about as authentic as Will Smith is as a rapper. Didn’t he feature on a Little Mix song and then do another one with Camilla Cabello? 😂😂😂

I know things were different then as Avril was still in her peak during The Best Damn Thing era, but I'd love to see her go all out like she did with "Girlfriend". Outside of all of the promotion for the album, Avril released two music videos for the song, we got remixes (Dr. Luke, Junkie XL, Submarines), and she even recorded the chorus in seven different languages. Regardless if you like the song or not, Avril clearly put in a lot of effort there. I'm not saying she needs to repeat exactly that, but it would be cool to see more done as opposed to singles like "Dumb Blonde" that didn't even get a music video.
Edit: Just wanted to add though that I think Avril is moving in the right direction, as she is interacting with fans more and releasing music so quickly after the last album. This was just an observation about the single treatments we got for last era.
