isn't there a way she could release music outside her label? like independient. Maybe an album full of demos or songs she scrapped or she knows she or the label are not going to use? Or do you have to be 100% "faithfu" to the label?
Idk if i explained myself, but kinda do separate stuff without your label. (and without leaving the label obvsly)

No, she's under contract with a label. Everything must go through them

The only way Avril can release music outside of her label I think is if she didn't make any profit from it. I remember Miley released a record while she was under RCA (Dead Petz) but it was only available through Soundcloud because I think she technically released it independently but because she was still under a contract she could not make any money off it. But now it's available through all streaming platforms so I don't know exactly how that works. But yeah if Avril were to release music outside of her contract, she either can't do it at all or she would have to do it without making any money from it.

Yeah people act like Ariana, Taylor etc are so independent and kind to their fans for releasing impromptu albums but the fact is the label has to agree to it and why would they not with artists who are huge, have the backing of the general public and a huge fanbase? If Avril had the level of fame she had during her first 3 albums she could do it but not now because it would be too risky. The only people who would notice would be her hardcore fans, even her more casual fans probably wouldn't catch on straight away because it wouldn't make headlines.
I'm actually not surprised Taylor dropped a surprise album. Lover underperformed by her standards even though it was supposed to be a return to her more usual style after Reputation and since her tour is now pushed back a year she needed to do something to keep her name out there as an artist because outside of her fanbase people don't seem as interested in her music.

I know this could literally mean nothing, but Pete posted a story recently in the studio mixing a song. Considering they might still be in quarantine at her house, this could mean something exciting is coming.

I think she would release something before the tour, it’s still 6 months apart and the HAW album will be forgotten by the time. Maybe an EP could be great with around 6 songs to promote the tour.
A new album is a whole new topic considering she spends years working on them, bringing writers, producers, sounds, changing her mind. It would be great if she just put an album without a bunch of genres, I don’t understand why she continues to release songs like Dumb Blonde, those will never be hits, she can release solo songs of those genres but not be part of albums. Just saying

^ I still believe rock is coming back sooner than later. Althought i don't think Avril in particular would rule the genre anymore like she did in the past. But at least she could gain more attention again or release songs she's comfortable with, 'cause i don't see her releasing songs like Lady gaga (her pop-dance stuff, not her ballads). or Ariana.
Rock...OR the world will be dominated by kpop which is also a possible scenario xD

I don’t think rock is coming back nor do I think Avril will necessarily ever have a big hit again regardless of what genre she does. It comes down to the fans buying and streaming and radio. Taylor made a genre switch to freaking folk music but it’s already broken tons of records because of who she is and the size of her fanbase. There’s certain artists who could release a record of bathroom noises and have it reach #1 purely because they have the fan base. Avril still has many loyal fans but I don’t think she has that level of power anymore.
She should just release the type of music that feels most natural to her. No matter what type of song she puts out, it never ends up charting that well. It’s mostly due to the label and lack of promotion. Maybe by doing something a little different it can actually draw more attention. I’m still curious if she will go with this country rock thing. And if she’s recording everything at home, that would be really impressive to see from her, a project she wrote and recorded herself.

It doesn't mean that the song will come soon though. One thing I wonder about her is if all those songs she has amounted actually get finished or are dropped as soon as she moves on to something else and realizes it won't be on the album.

Fingers crossed she is really taking this time to work on something we will hear - sooner or later. And hopefully this time BMG won’t push her towards working with people last minute to fill in the album with more catchy yet not really great tracks.

Why would it be risky and only for fans? With every new album no matter what the genre is she can gain new fans tho. Lose some too but that's normal since a genre is changing. Folklore by Taylor isn't popular by everyone tho. Some kid fans aren't hyping about it since it's not a Paper Rings or I Think He Knows sound.. But mature lyric listeners loving it so why would it be risky for Avril to release something?? I wish she would surprise us tho.. she has so much time in quarantine and there aren't WAW performances anymore and she is awful quiet... She liked Taylors post about the new record. What is she thinking about that? Like wow not 1 year later and a whole new record, let's do something for my fans too. Again, it's hard to be such a hardcore Avril fan. She could release tons and why would the label disagree? They should promote her bringing out new music.

I feel like maybe around her birthday we might get something, even if just a single. Now would not be a good time to release anything since Taylor is ruling the charts. Katy Perry delayed her album until end of August, so that wouldn't be a good time either. Maybe in September there won't be as much big competition. I think around her birthday would be perfect.

We've been waiting for some surprises on her birthday since 2010, the best we've ever got is a pair of signed stinky All Star on Charity Stars for 500$. Never forget it's Avril we're talking about.

True, but I'm pretty sure she released the HAW video on her birthday in 2018 though.
