Sometimes I feel Avril has trouble writing songs, it just doesn't come naturally to her. Or maybe it does but she is very restrained in her writing.

Wasn't Mod Sun's album supposed to be released in December? It eventually got pushed back a bit because of the Avril collab. So I think he might announce the song with the album?

I'm very sure this collaboration will be fantastic and will be out for Jan-Feb along with Modsun record.
About AL7, I Can see a first single around April, 2nd single and Record July. This Way she probably begins tour end of 2021 somewhere and then follows with postponed dates in March 2022.
I don't think she release 1st single and 2nd and maybe the record in the Q1 of 2021 when the tour would be still 1 year later.

Yeah maybe..
Flames ft ModSun: January
First single from the new album: March / April
Second single: May / June
New album: during the summer
About the mod sun interview, everything fits ... that would explain why she has been practically EVERY DAY in the studio for about four weeks with john feldmann / modsun and travis barker. Also now the blackboard with the song titles makes sense!

You mean the album with the song? It’s possible. He said he’s dropping two more singles, including a collab with a female musician, before the album Looking at Avril’s speed of working, the album may be out in spring. I think quite a lot depends on the success of the collab with Mod but i don’t smell a hit there, he isn’t famous enough to make a decent buzz, neither is she right now. But it can be used as a nice boost for Avril’s new album, especially if she releases the lead shortly after the collab

Yeah I think so. First single off a record is an important single. Vaccines are here but it will take time, at least Summer.
I think that after all she doesn't want to put out a single and stop, she will want to do some promo. Maybe guest in a TV show, or something. If the album is ready around march, she will put out the first single around April, no earlier, it would be a waste just a video on Youtube and that's it. But hey, this is just my opinion..

She proved with We are Warriors that she can work hard with media outlets even when being somewhere in person isn’t possible. Her main problem is the lack of proper promo on popular social media platforms, not the old fashioned tv channels. They can work it out, if they want to. It’s basically the question of money - how much will she or her label be ready to spend to reach new audience. She’s nothing to wait for. The pandemic made it clear that pushing things back waiting for better times isn’t reasonable and Avril’s probably also learned the lesson from her own illness. She has nothing to lose, literally. She can only gain - in this case, with a bit of luck and a lot of hard work, win some new fans and old once back and if the 2022 tour happens, have a nice audience of people happy to see her live on stage.

I don't really agree.. We are warriors was put out but honestly how many views did the video get? so few. How many songs did she sell on iTunes? On Italian team we made the count.. she was in top 10 with 13 singles sold.. 13 x 0,99 cent. That's it.
And the live show for charity? no need to speak about it.
About streams, she is not the queen of Spotify.
Instead, every time she went on live TV shows (dancing with the stars and similar..) every single time it happened, HAW came back on all the selling charts. She gained more IG followers.
What I mean is that she's not a Digital Star, but she's more old school. It's not a flaw!
So, imho, she needs promo and yes as you say, money must be spent. Just like the week she spent in Tokyo for the promo of HAW and the very very small live she did there, something like that. But public is needed I guess. Again this is just my opinion, but she's always been strong doing big live promo in shows and live more than any kind of digital stuff.

Well the thing is streaming counts for a lot these days and HAW failed massively with streaming. On the one hand, she is lucky enough to be probably one of the last artists from the physical CD era who can still sell physical records and have fans who like to actually purchase the album, whether on CD/vinyl or the iTunes version. But streaming is taking over, even though you need a lot of streams just to count for 1 album sale, but it does make a big impact on the Billboard chart. I'd say both are important aspects to focus on. Who's to say she can't do both?
If COVID has taught us anything, it's that promo can be done much easier than before without all the traveling. She doesn't necessarily need to fly all the way to NYC or Tokyo or Europe or wherever just to do a few interviews, she can do them by phone or Zoom and it accomplishes the same thing. That means she won't be as tired and she might be more willing to do them if all she has to do is set up a camera in her living room. And she can obviously do many more of them too.

The new generation that streams music doesn't watch TV. She would need a super acclaimed performance that went viral to benefit from it. TV performances are alright if you have an album to promote because a soccer mom might buy it. TV performances are great tho, they can build a song's legacy but they really don't have a direct influence on streaming platforms.

On Italian team we made the count.. she was in top 10 with 13 singles sold.. 13 x 0,99 cent. That's it. Because she re-recorded an old track and released it too late to join the party. I don’t blame people for not buying this - in April we are so done with the virus, exhausted and scared, lacking money to fund our lives. Also I gave this example because she showed that she can be in old and new media without traveling, it’s only a question of wanting to do so and having a chance. Spending money on TV performance when streaming is dead, doesn’t make much sense. Unless the management of she herself don’t care about the charts. She had more performances with WAW than with any other HAW track. iTunes is dead anyways. People who are proud of Top 10 on iTunes lie to themselves because even in the US it’s enough to sell 100 copies to be on Top 10. I think we all know how little it is. To be honest I don’t understand why people look into iTunes so much while talking about the popularity of the track xD

Besides that, WAW was only a charity single. Had it been a lead single from her own album, I think the promo plan would have been different, though ironically she did way more promo appearances for WAW than she ever did for HAW.

I think they did more because they were given the opportunities. We all are now open for online/Zoom interviews and performances and she can really benefit from it, especially with her illness. She’ll prefer to avoid additional traveling for her own good with a vaccine or without it. Obviously I’m not saying she should do all from home, definitely not, but press junkets for European press do not need to be done from Europe etc.

Yeah I think even aside from COVID, I'm not sure what her health was like before that ever happened. She's said she still has bad days from time to time, I'm not sure if traveling makes her feel worse. So if anything, even once COVID is over, it might be in her best interest to do a lot of her overseas promo remotely anyway.
