I'm glad most of you seem to enjoy it after a few re-listens and to see that some of you who were hyped really love it. For me I'm still kind of in the middle: I don't quite love it but I also don't dislike it. The song feels a bit "rushed" to me. Like most of the parts are supposed to be a bit slower or longer but they are being played through at a higher tempo. After hearing it a few more times I feel almost everything I said after my first listen last night still stands for me. Bit repetitive and short but it's good news on the production side for AL7 and I definitely think it's more a Mod Sun song than an Avril (for obvious reasons). Maybe I just need to listen to it even more to get all your vibes? The low pass filter + subtle distortion used in her voice + short reverb is what's bothering. Informative post! I have a question for you: In earlier posts you said the effect on Avril's vocals that seems to bother people (and what keeps being referred to as auto-tune) is actually the application of a low-pass filter. You described it as: The effect you guys are listening is not autotune, but a low-pass filter... it basically cuts some of the frequencies of the lows in the sound, to make the singer sound brighter But to my understanding this is the exact opposite of what a low-pass filter does? I've always been led to believe a low-pass filter lets low frequencies "pass" and attenuates higher frequencies. Have I been told wrong? Or did you mean a low-cut filter (which is technically a high-pass filter)?

They really should have also posted it to Avril's YouTube channel and not just Mod's. I get that maybe they are hoping to draw more attention to his music than hers, since she is so well known already, but more people would know the song exists if it were also on her channel. Most people interested in this collab are Avril fans who aren't necessarily going to take the time to go seek it out on Mod's channel. That's not how it goes tho. What she can do is make a post on youtube that will show in the notifications/new video sections of the people who follow her. Taylor, Shakira, Miranda, etc. post there all the time, it's how I get updates from them. But hey unlike What Child Is This, this song did make it on her Spotify "lastest release". Tommee didn't have that pleasure. It only showed in the bottom where her features are listed which aren't really in order and do not display her name unless you click on it.

I hear many people say "it grows on them" and I have to agree. It gets better with a few listenings. only thing: it could be a bit longer

Yesterday I was like "the song is okay...I like it but I'm not sure how much I could listen it on repeat." Today I can say that I just can't stop listening to it. It really grew on me and It's been only 17 hours

If any of you are wondering why the song is so short, it's a current music trend (particularly with up and coming artists). Shorter songs are more likely to be replayed, therefore Spotifys algorithms are more likely to include it on Playlists. If you look at Machine Gun Kellys new album most tracks are under 2mins and a Half. The same can be seen with lots of RnB artists such as those kids who sing Mood (which is HUGE in the UK and 2mins long!). Also, songs which fit in a chorus twice within a minute are very Tik Tokable... Which also effects streams!

First, thanks Edd for the information. My dad is a musician but i never actually payed attention to what he does lol. i guess you really have to be passionate about it and i'm mre towards visual arts xD
Second, all of you complaining that the song is too short...lol, think again: they would've probably repeated the chorus 3 more times ππ
