I'm not mad. Derek is just promoting his single and it's pretty normal to release various "remixes" when the original version is slowing down. Hopefully Avril will keep up with this type of energy for her own singles. And I surely didn't expect a video for it after the acoustic version was released without a video. Just before I was thinking how he will probably be credited on every track on AL7 and how he will earn more money based on royalties for that album than what he earned from royalties from his own discography.  |

Am I a bad fan if I say I don’t care about this at all? Lol. Like honestly, they’ve been dragging this since JANUARY. Almost 4 months ago. I don’t want to think he’s taking a little too much advantage out of this, but he sure screams “attention seeker”, and he’s annoyingly loud. I don’t hate him or anything, in fact, I kind of like his album and have listened to it on a few occasions. But come on, the constant pap pics, flames here flames there, wanting to be in every single track of her album. Now this “flames 2.0 video”. I don’t know, to me he’s definitely looking for attention, but still think he’s genuinely fallen hard for her, no doubt about that.
I’m still grateful because I’m 200% sure that if it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t have AL7 wrapped by now (hope that’s still the case) and we would’ve had like 0 interaction with her. And if the album turns out to be one of her best works I will forever love him for that.
Love Flames, love their duet, and love their artistry together. But let’s move on please. She won’t want to release anything if he keeps promoting the shit out of this song. She must not want her own stuff to get in his way as a rising artist.

But if it is, and if that was the thing Avril was shooting wearing the red hair... some fans are going to be so disappointed xD All in all, at least we have something thanks to Mod 😅 What a Never ending story. I can't really blame Mod for milking Flames - it's undoubtedly the biggest song of his career since Avril's name is attached to it. And it's quite common for artists to put out multiple versions/remixes to keep the streaming numbers up (ex: The Weeknd is releasing a remix of one of his singles with Ariana tonight).
He also pretty much informally confirmed that Avril is not delaying the release of her own music for his. I feel like her record label would not allow that to happen. But I do think they want to ride the remaining hype of Flames as sort of a primer before Avril puts out her own single. Her hardcore fans are over it, but who knows how the more casual fans/general public feel, most probably don't even know of its existence. As long as Flames continues to climb the Billboard chart, they're going to keep pushing it. Once it starts falling down the chart, hopefully then they will move on. Especially once Mod releases the deluxe of his album, I should think he's probably going to put out a different song maybe. I think that Flames Acoustic is meant to be the main driver/push of his deluxe album, hence the long rollout, and why the music video is coming separately from the single.
