Am I a bad fan if I say I don’t care about this at all? Lol. Like honestly, they’ve been dragging this since JANUARY. Almost 4 months ago. I don’t want to think he’s taking a little too much advantage out of this, but he sure screams “attention seeker”, and he’s annoyingly loud. I don’t hate him or anything, in fact, I kind of like his album and have listened to it on a few occasions. But come on, the constant pap pics, flames here flames there, wanting to be in every single track of her album. Now this “flames 2.0 video”. I don’t know, to me he’s definitely looking for attention, but still think he’s genuinely fallen hard for her, no doubt about that. I’m still grateful because I’m 200% sure that if it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t have AL7 wrapped by now (hope that’s still the case) and we would’ve had like 0 interaction with her. And if the album turns out to be one of her best works I will forever love him for that. Love Flames, love their duet, and love their artistry together. But let’s move on please. She won’t want to release anything if he keeps promoting the shit out of this song. She must not want her own stuff to get in his way as a rising artist. I really don’t get it. It’s not like it’s a hit! If it was number one in the proper charts not some alternative/rock chart no one pays attention of then I could understand all the remixes and promo they’re putting into it. But I feel like it’s gone as far as it can go success wise. No acoustic even with a music video is going to make it go to number 1. Move on already! |

Derek is on an independent label. He never had a song that charted before and also never had a song that received airplay - this feels like a #1 smash to him. It's also his music video with the most views and his second most streamed song on Spotify (with the potential to become his most streamed one).
What he does are just normal tactics to promote a song. I don't know why the should drop his only ''successful'' song in his career so far only because Avril fans want him to move on. The song is #18 on Alternative, the last time Avril had a song that high on an airplay chart was with HTNGU on Pop (8 years ago). 4-5 months in a normal time spawn that a radio single spends on Alternative. The song will probably peak next week and then start falling naturally.

When you’re talking about the Alternative chart I take it you mean the US Billboard Alternative? I’m not quite sure how the charts work in America, does anyone pay attention to these individual charts? I know we have these in the UK but the only one anyone is bothered about is the Official UK Top 40 and like above, Avril hasn’t charted in that since HTNGU, a peak of 14! I’m not sure if Flames has entered any Alternative charts in the UK. I’m gona look into this! |

He said on their insta story when they wake up. Which is weird because it’s not like they press the button to release it across all platforms... or do they? I imagine it would just be managed by the record company? I can’t see Avril being the one to upload to YouTube etc haha. I imagine it’s probably a set time maybe 9am in the USA? I’m hoping it’s released when I finish work at 4pm U.K. time so I can start my weekend off with Avril. Hahaha |

Yeah I missed the part where they said “when we wake up” Maybe they’re planning to do a live chat during its premiere which is why they’re waiting until they’re awake. Hopefully maybe that means noon EST, not 3 if they don’t wake up until noon lol
