I just thought we should have a thread for her B-sides. I'm surprised we don't already have one. To me, her B-sides from LG-TBDT era are very special.
My favorite for a long time has been Take It from her single My Happy Ending.
It's one of those pop punk style songs she has and I LOVE it. I feel like it's so underrated. It has the fun rock style and the attitude of avril. It's just perfect. I wish we had a whole album in this style from her.

I totally agree about Take It, it’s so underrated. I think it’s actually really well written in terms of lyrics, I think it’s actually better written than anything else from UMS. I wish it would have been included on UMS and could have added some variety. The topic in particular is actually really interesting and different.

I really like "Take It" too. I think it would've been a nice bonus track alongside "I Always Get What I Want" on the Japanese deluxe of Under My Skin. In terms of my favorite b-side, it's for sure "Falling Down" (if we're counting soundtrack releases that is). I also love "Alone", which I think complimented "Girlfriend" really well. I know b-sides aren't really a thing anymore, but I'd love for Avril to throw out an extra song or two with the digital release of her next single.

Fun fact: Take It apparently ended up on the My Happy Ending single due to a former Bandaids admin's (Victoria, I think) influence during a radio interview or something along those lines. I think there was a snippet floating around and she asked if it was going to be released, or if she could release it on the next single so we could hear the full version.

I like that Take It is a different subject to usual, but it's never been a song I go back to often. My favourite b-side by far is Move Your Little Self On. Pretty much all of her LG b-sides are great songs imo.

Before UMS came out I remember her mentioning it and saying it was the one she was happiest with in terms of lyrics but she wasn't sure it would make the album. They obviously didn't want too many upbeat songs because it would change the tone of the album and a song about press invasion was different to the others and not very relatable to fans |

I think there were some other UMS B-sides mentioned in some interviews before the album release, I think they were called "Not Gonna Run" and "Fast". I'm still very curious to hear those songs. I wish she was aware that Let Go b-sides were leaked on the internet back in the day, and that fans approved most of those tracks! It would be a dream if a 20th year version of the album were released incluing the unreleased tracks (at least those Avril co-wrote). Maybe Cliff Fabri or someone else from the old team will leak another b-side someday, like "That Kinda Guy" did in 2018. |

There are fans who claim to have heard "Not Gonna Run" playing at shows of the Bonez Tour before Avril went onstage. Yet no one has ever been able to describe what the song sounded like or name any lyrics. No one has any recording of it, even with the crappy cell phones and cameras that existed back then. Some are not even sure if what they were hearing really was Avril or some other artist.
I don't think the LG b-sides will ever get released officially since Avril doesn't own the master recordings. Once Arista folded as a label, I'm not sure where they would have went, probably RCA. So they probably remain there. The only way she could release them now is if she re-recorded them.
