Let Go (20th Anniversary Edition)

I booked my wedding venue yesterday and I’ve just realised it’s the same date as the LG release date. Boyf doesn’t agree with a Let Go themed wedding. Shame.

Anyway, this is exciting! I’m not gonna get my hopes up re the talk of shows just playing LG cos I’m 99% that will not happen in the UK, but AMAZING anyway. Hope she does it. Even if it’s just US dates I’d seriously consider a holiday to coincide with one of the shows. Or if she streams it even better.

With other artists 20th anniversary edition usually means extra tracks: unreleased, B-sides, demos, remastered/new mixes, etc

So hopefully they'll do that for Let Go

*special packaging* box set (25 x 25 cm) with inclusions (photobook (at least 80 pictures), lyrics booklet, photocards or postcards, a LG red star keychain or magnet, a tie, a poster, maybe a small diary. And a DVD with the music videos re-mastered plus some live performances. And the CD with re-mastered album + unreleased tracks: daydream (full version), headset, let go, falling into history, breakaway....and so on.

That's what i want, if not more. It's the 20th anniversary for God's sake....that doesn't happen everyday. We will buy it but give us something worth buying damn it....

I only hope she didn’t actually re-record the album, if they want to remaster the tracks that’s fine, but they don’t need to be re-recorded. That would just completely ruin the album for me.

I think the demos she’s talking about most likely are the ones that already circulated years ago, though there are still a bunch she wrote that never leaked if you check her ASCAP credits. There’s quite a few written with Clif Magness for example that we haven’t heard.

I don’t think they should release a big box set of stuff because most fans probably couldn’t afford it honestly. They should at least make 2 different versions if that’s the case with one being a kind of “deluxe” version that includes a bunch of stuff that’s more expensive while the standard version is kept affordable.

But honestly I’d be happy just hearing the demos and yeah if there’s some kind of never before seen footage or making of the album that’d be awesome. I wonder if this is the documentary she said she was working on. Maybe there is no footage of her actually making the album, but they could have taken some footage from the era and she discussed what it was like making that album, or maybe it will be a documentary summarizing her whole career which would be awesome.

I'd love if Avril did something similar to what Garbage did for the 20th anniversary of their debut album. They released three editions of the album: standard, deluxe, and super deluxe. The standard was just a remastered version of the regular album, the deluxe had the addition of all b-sides/unreleased songs from the era, while the super deluxe contained both of those in addition to all remixes/acoustics/misc songs from the era. I know that's a super ambitious asking though.

In the end, even if Avril were to just put the b-sides and some of the leaked demos on the re-release, I'd be happy. I honestly wasn't expecting anything for the 20th anniversary, so just having a remastered version of the album with even a few cleaned up demos sounds great.

The demos she mentioned, does she mean demos of songs already one the album, or demos of the unreleased b-sides? I hope she means the b-sides that weren't released officially.

I'd also love a 20th anniversary vinyl edition of the album, but I'm also happy if there's just the CD.
