not sure if it's for this thread, but I'll post it. I just thought of a Daydream song. Half of the song was already available before the release of UMS. And the fans chose Don't Tell Me as first single. And as a result, we don't have a full version of Daydream in excellent quality. Demi Lovato sang the Daydream song in 2008. She changed the lyrics a bit, but most of it sounds like Miranda's version, which released the song in 2010. So these two have heard Avril's full version of Daydream! Lucky ones! For the 20th anniversary of UMS we must hear Avril's version! How I hope so... unreleased from UMS is just my dream. WAIT WHAT? ? ? ? I didn’t know she let fans choose the first single. That’s so cool!!! Especially for some one like Avril on her second ever record. As sad as it is that we’ve never gotten to hear Avril’s version of Daydream in full, I feel like DTM was the better pick for the lead anyway. It represents the rest of the album better. Reminds me of when she also gave a snippet of a cleaner version of Wish You Were Here which she sang “yeah, yeah, yeah” in place of “damn, damn, damn” and asked if we wanted it for the radio version of the song. Obviously the fans moreso voted for the album version for radio play since we never got a full version of the “yeah” version.

I'd like to talk about a very old leak...Think About It. Can someone tell, why do so many fans hate this? I'm not a native English speaker, but I know the translation of the song. There is nothing deep and smart. I think it was just Avril's thoughts about some guy or just fiction. I listen to this song a lot and just love it for that cold and hard vibe.

Weak lyrics, even for a demo 2. It sounds unfinished or very much in a demo form It’s an ok song but I definitely see why people don’t like it. There’s just not much to it and it clearly sounds unfinished or lik a demo. She has much better songs.

I like Think About It a lot. It's like a hybrid of Under My Skin and The Best Damn Thing. I think it's mainly the lyrics that people dislike, and while I'll agree they aren't great imo the instrumental and melody more than make up for that.

I thought the only time the fans have actually chosen a single was Smile over Push? I don’t think WYWH got released to radio in the UK but always thought the way they censored it on US tv and replaced the ‘damns’ with ‘yeah’ was odd. Is ‘damn’ such a bad word? It’s not exactly a swear word.

Firstly whoever made that Leaky Lavigne playlist on soundcloud, thank you, lol
secondly HOW DID LUCKY ONES NOT MAKE IT ONTO AN ALBUM?? That is such a good song! And that bridge! So Avril. I love it. Lights Out really should’ve made the cut too.
And Joker - who made the decision to put LIWYHM on LS and not this? It’s better than a good chunk of the album. Crazy decisions.

I don’t understand all the hate LIWYHM gets. Maybe it isn’t single material but it’s better than other songs on the album - DTLM and BOAH.
I agree Joker should have appeared on the album along. I like the clips of Teenage Nightmare and Too Fast to Live and think they should have been on the album. Unless the verses and rest of the song are terrible. Not sure about Eternally or Hellelujah. The leaked songs from AL are rubbish.
I’m intrigued by Half Full.
I feel In Touch should have been on HAW. Lights Out is decent too. They could have substituted that with Dumb Blonde. At the time I was annoyed it wasn’t released properly as a single but the more I think of it the more it sticks out like a sore thumb. At least Love Sux is a pretty consistent sounding album.

You guys honestly aren’t ready for Retrograde!!…it’s verses are so unexpected and that drop at the end of the song 🔥…deffo a dark horse based off the snippets!! Only kinda “odd” thing is that there is no bridge which is very unlike her. Doesn’t take away from the masterpiece it is though!! 🙊

As a general over all of the song it’s pretty much about how she gets into bad moods and to stay away from her during these episodes. Spewing off things that piss her off…car breaking down, boyfriend trying to come for her, tech not working etc…and just blaming it on the moon and the concept that things get fucked up when Mercury goes into Retrograde.

I remember one story when she was in the studio working on love sux, that she used runaway on the background. Now that makes perfect sense

Did fans actually choose DTM? I always thought Avril wanted MHE as the first single but the label wanted DTM and obviously won and were wrong as MHE was the bigger single. I thought the only time the fans have actually chosen a single was Smile over Push? Daydream and Don't Tell Me were both released in part to a test market music site that was around at the time (i cant remember the name of it right now) and Don't Tell Me got the more positive response, mostly because Avril was at the time more gunning for a harder sound, so fans were encouraging of that direction. The site would play little snippets of songs and you had to rate them. There was also a call-in option for the site - Daydream had the second verse on that, which is why there is only a grainy version of that (technology was different back then, so someone just recorded it with a microphone while their phone was on speaker haha RIP). It's unclear/unconfirmed whether that was the final decision making process as to why DTM was the lead single and/or why that would explain why Daydream was cut completely. Another puzzling piece is that they SAID outright that they were releasing Take Me Away to radio to release a harder song to go hand-in-hand with the more pop-leaning single, but that doesn't totally make sense since Don't Tell Me isn't that much less pop than TMA but ultimately NO ONE KNOWS and i doubt avril even remembers so it's gonna be a mini question mark forever. and that is the end of your pre-UMS release history lecture, goodnight.
