Retrograde doesn't fit it either, there's nothing about love, girlfriends or boyfriends (besides of the part where she's giving a warning to her bf not to come over because she might be rude, but she blames it on the moon. It's about bad luck and weird things happening during Mercury's retrograde.
Many people dont know about Mercury's retrograde, this is probably why title got changed. It didn't know it either so I just found explanation in google.
Here's the explanation; Has the full version leaked? I've only heard the snippet but it sounds like it's about a relationship suddenly not going very well anymore as if some outside force (like mercury going into retrograde) it's to blame for the sudden change because she doesn't understand it The full song hasn’t leaked to the public but some people have heard the full version. |

I really like Too Fast To Live, it’s stuck in my head! I have better than KMLTWIE! Would have been a great summer song!
Yeah lyrics could be better but it still works!
I wish most of these would be on Spotify, and Won’t Let You go as well.

I listened several times and tried to like Too Fast To Live, Too Young To Die but my taste buds didn't really like the taste of it. It's the only LS leftover song that I dislike so far. I think I need to listen more. 😅

Too fast to live is my favourite out of all the love sux leaks. So glad we finally have it. I hope Teenage nightmare also comes out this week. It will be a nice way to close the chapter for the Love Sux Era having all the songs finally out including the deluxe stuff on Friday.

I feel like Teenage Nightmare might be saved for the documentary. It would make sense considering the song's topic/lyrics and I can imagine that might be what she initially wrote it for, rather than for Love Sux. It's pretty common now for artists to put out a song to accompany their documentary (Taylor's Miss Americana and "Only the Young," Selena's "Me & My Mind"). I wonder if "Teenage Nightmare" could even be the name of the documentary if it's largely about her career beginnings.

TFTL is okay. Brings nothing new to the table lyrically, and listening to the song has changed nothing about how I feel about LS the album. I could have lived without hearing it and I wouldn’t have missed anything.
I have a feeling mercury in retrograde is gonna be similar since she’s already got a song about having a crappy day; runaway. We’ll see! 😊

I like how the word “juvenile” gets thrown around to describe the LS album, as if fast guitars and aggressive lyrics after the age of 30 make somebody’s feelings invalidated. Too Fast to Live is juvenile based off the subject matter, not the style of music. The Love Sux album isn’t juvenile just because most of the songs are about being done wrong by somebody 🙄 It’s not the music that makes it juvenile, it’s the lyrics. The GL album was written when she was 26 and yet has way more mature lyrics, a more reflective way of looking at a relationship and owning part of its failure. I get that that wasn’t her intention with this album, that she wanted it to be lighthearted, sarcastic, and fun, and that the songs are more boy bashing instead. But how exactly can you argue that lyrics like “They called the cops on us, we don’t give a fuck” aren’t juvenile? It’s like she doesn’t know how to write mature, adult lyrics unless it’s a ballad or mid tempo track. You can express being hurt by a relationship or talk about moving on, forgetting about that person in a way that sounds like an adult rather than a teenager’s perspective. I’m not arguing that Too Fast to Live isn’t juvenile. I whole heartedly think it is. I also think it’s a stretch to day lyrics from Goodbye Lullaby are “mature” though. If you added more electric guitars and sped up the tempo to the GL tracks and/or slowed down the tempo to LS and added more piano and acoustic guitar, I would say you’re getting a similar finished product (generally). If you backed Break of a Heartache with a piano section and had her singing with a more raw voice, it could easily be deemed as “mature”. You could even argue that lyrically, Love Sux moves forward in terms of being intricate. Maybe not subject matter, though. I’m not dissing either album by the way. GL has been and will always be my favourite, and I’m surprised how quickly LS is catching up. I think lyrics like Too Fast to Live and Joker are far more juvenile than anything came onto the final tracklist, and is a good indication as to why they weren’t used. |
