I know a handful of leaked songs, including Too Fast to Live are still circulating on various random YouTube posts. Outside of that, I don’t know where else to find demos etc. 🤷🏼♂️

I said this in another thread but felt like it could be said here as well:
I know I’ve seen complaints on here before with how much more Taylor gives back to her fans, but her fans also seem to back her up and respect her more. Didn’t they advocate against her leaks or something?
As with anything, a relationship between fans and artists are two way.
These leaks were either songs that we weren’t supposed to hear or songs that Avril decided not to use, so show some respect for that. The only thing fans are doing by complaining about the leaks on social media and to her team are showing entitlement.

But there are also some people who think Avril’s team might have leaked the songs intentionally. We don’t really know who leaked them or how. If anything, her team needs to vet everyone better and up their security.
And as far as the artist-fan relationship goes, I’d argue the fan have given way more to Avril than she has frankly deserved at times. We have stuck around through messy album releases and she hasn’t changed her tour setlist in a literal decade, yet we still pay money for the music and the shows. We have stuck with her through thick and thin, way longer than anybody else would. Yet our loyalty is barely and rarely rewarded. The LG 20th anniversary is a good example. I’ve seen fan artwork that was way better than what they actually came up with and they could have released other B-sides, most of the ones we got were ones released 20 years ago. LS deluxe was a similar issue, they could have done so much more with it, but all we got was 2 songs barely 2 minutes long.
Taylor’s fans give back to her because she goes above and beyond for them. Like she once did a free, 13-hour meet and greet. She does album release parties at her HOUSE. And makes FOOD for them. Her deluxe albums are true deluxes with actual new songs on them and are proper length. She always puts a ton of thought behind every detail of her music, marketing, tours, etc. There’s a certain reward that comes with being her fan where it actually feels fun. I’m not saying Avril has to do any of that for her fans but you can’t really expect the fans to want to go to bat for Avril when she hasn’t given us much to get excited about. A bunch of acoustics and 2 songs totaling 4 minutes? The same 15-song setlist she’s been playing since 2011? That’s not enough to make anyone excited at this point.

After reading another user's post earlier in this thread, I have been working on not listening to the leaked songs. I didn't think about how Avril might have felt, or if it was even a song she wanted to release. I was only excited to hear something new.
However, Teenage Nightmare has potential. I loved the theme and I feel we got a song about how successful she feels - even if she isn't in the spotlight anymore. It seems she's proud to be the one that paved the way for other artists such as Paramore, Olivia Rodrigo, and Billie Eilish.

A bunch of acoustics and 2 songs totaling 4 minutes? The same 15-song setlist she’s been playing since 2011? That’s not enough to make anyone excited at this point. I get the concerns you’re mentioning, but at the same time, I don’t fully see how this relates to my post on whether or not people should be complaining about leaks on her social media, or if this was just some genuine venting. My comparison was about how Taylor’s fans read to leaks as opposed to Avril’s, not so much about how they go about with PR and concert setlists. I also don’t fully understand why, if all these things have bothered so many fans for so long, they keep sticking around? I used to let all of that get to me and I think it’s why I took a break from Bandaids for a while. I assumed I knew what was best for Avril and her career and her setlists and her b-sides etc, and then I asked myself why I was getting so worked up over all of this. I came to the conclusion that, for some reason, I had insecurity of being an Avril fan and it’s like if she did all these extra things it would validate me liking her music so much. But then, I figured all of that was very silly, and decided to just go along for the ride and not expect very much. Once I started doing that, it made new albums and acoustic tracks and bonus tracks and live shows so much more enjoyable. I got to hear It Was In Me live I had no idea she was doing breakaway or KHO on her HAW setlist so those were treats. I shat my pants when she opened with Cannonball at the show. And then I was able to put all that aside and focus on other things. If we are going to go into the realm of how Avril and Taylor give or don’t give to their fans, you can also argue that Avril seems to have a healthier work-life balance and is proving she isn’t in this industry for anybody but herself and will do it how she wants. I respect Taylor and her songs and her fans, but watching her documentaries and interviews, it’s very evident she’s stretched thin and has insecurity issues. So I do think that they are two very different extremes and one isn’t necessarily better or worse than the other.

I mentioned it because you brought up artist to fan relationship…. I am explaining why Taylor’s fans are more loyal, because she’s given them reasons to be.
Yes, fans don’t really have the right to be complaining about songs we weren’t even supposed to hear but I think what gets a lot of fans is we know what Avril’s potential could be if she just put in the effort. Whether it is with her albums, songwriting, deluxe packaging, tour setlist, vocals, merch… oftentimes it feels like she just misses the mark. Like IMO Mercury in Retrograde could have been a fine song if they just added another chorus to the end. IAM would be even more stellar live if she aimed for the high notes (and I get why she doesn’t, but that’s irrelevant to what I’m trying to say). It’s like she wants to put in the bare minimum effort with things and is satisfied with whatever she comes up with without going back to the drawing table for rewrites or retakes, etc. It’s frustrating to see when her stuff could be elevated so much more by just making a couple small adjustments, but fact of the matter is, she won’t. And we have no idea why, so we only assume she’s just lazy.
There’s certain stuff we might just have to accept she will never change on, like the short, all-singles setlist or her basic af lyrics. But I think just shrugging it off and trying to be content with anything and everything she puts out is basically giving her permission to be complacent and sends a message to her that we’re willing to pay money for the bare minimum effort from her. A lot of fans have said they won’t be going to her concerts anymore if it’s just going to be the same setlist every time. Once her bottom line starts to become affected, that is the only time I might see her actually change something. I agree that there are some fans who seem like they are never content with anything she does and only love revisiting her past work. At that point I don’t see what they’re sticking around for. But I don’t think most of us fall into that category. Most of us grew up with her and have stuck with her for so long that it’s hard to just let go. I think we all want to believe she has it in her to do better. The Love Sux album and era were all proof of that and I think we’d like to see her keep going with that passion and that momentum.

I dont believe in the theory that the leaks were intentional. My theory is that her small label was never really attacked but now she is the biggest name and someone just hacked into the server or cloud or whatever. I think the security standards might have been too low for a big artist like her

I thought I heard the same thing happened to Blackbear? But he is not on that label.
The thing is DTA doesn’t operate independently, it’s a subsidiary of Elektra I think. So they should still have a reasonable amount of security. Considering we got leaks from other albums owned by different labels (AL - Epic, HAW - BMG), I’m inclined to think it’s not necessarily a DTA issue. More likely people who know people who worked on the songs trading them than hacking into their system.

Yes same thing happen with Blackbear, he's not sign to DTA but his last album (in loving memory) is co-produce with Travis Barker. Still don't know why these leaks have happen...

I mean sh*t happens. It could have been something as easy as stealing Travis' or Feldys Laptop, snatching a demo CD from the studio or whatever. It is what it is. I just hope it's not a true security concern but just bad luck. Personally I am happy we have such high quality leaks although I think that means that she probably wont release those songs officially anymore. But I can see why other fans think differently and dont appreciate the leaks at all.

The high quality of the leaks and the timings of them, make me feel like (maybe) some of them were intentional. On instagram stories she posted the question 'Should I cut my hair?' the day before Joker leaked which has the lyric 'You make me wanna cut my hair'. Teenage Nightmare leaked the day of the Deluxe, from a new account on Soundcloud, seeing as its got a similar vibe to Retrograde and Pity Party, it was almost like an extra treat from her?
