Lights Out and Lucky Ones are great songs. No idea how they didn’t make the album. I like all the songs on HAW but there’s still a few I’d have cut for those two. I wonder if it’s because she didn’t have writing credits on them. Or maybe didn’t want too many ballads and wanted to “lighten up” the second half of the album to more accurately reflect where she was at by then with her recovery and falling in love. |

I understand she wanted to show the positive side to her life but the soft turn the album took at the end weakened the album imo. And yeah she probably didn't have major writing credits or bring those songs herself so she passed, sucks.

I know I'm late to the party but I just listened to the new version of Warrior and I love it. The released version was definitely the right choice for the album though

I quite like this leaked version of Warrior…I honestly might prefer it over the other versions. It’s kind of crazy that out of all the HAW songs, we have the most versions of Warrior. Album version, “We” re-re-recording, pop leaked version, acoustic leaked version, and demo leaked version.
I’ve always liked Don’t Stop and In Touch. I like Break It So Good too, but wish it had only had Avril’s vocals on the song. I would have been happy with the version of HAW if it had stayed in that direction. It’s a style of pop we have seen from her. And although it had some slight outdated sound to it, it was kind of mellow and not an over-the-top style of pop.

I definitely think the new version of Warrior that just leaked is "legit" and not fan-made, as others have said you can hear different notes/melodies that aren't in the other versions. Of all the versions, I much prefer the album version because it's piano and string driven, and more mellow than the other versions we've heard that are more electro-pop. It wouldn't make sense for her to release a song about her battle with and recovery from Lyme as an electro-pop song -honestly my first thought when I heard it was "whose idea was this??" A song like that should sound deep and dark like the opening piano does, and lighten up as the song progresses. I think I'm in the minority in absolutely LOVING Warrior and thinking its lyrics, production, instrumentals, melodies, etc are amazing. I see how people think the lyrics are a bit generic, but I do think she purposely did that so that others could relate, which in this case I think makes sense for the song -I agree that in some of her songs, being generic so others can relate doesn't work so well, but I think it does in this case. Plus in one of the demo versions she sings "I don't know what you are/but I'm a warrior" which I think references back when she was sick and didn't know what was making her sick. Obviously she changed that in later/final versions to reflect the support she had during recovery.

I love hearing all these different versions, experiencing the changes the song went through... It seems like they struggled far more with the bridge than with the rest of the song.
I like Bonnie's "here we go, here we go, here we go" instead of the "watch me, watch me, watch me prove you wrong" in the post-chorus. It just adds something new to the song.

Honestly I could leave all the bridges for DB. The one in Avrils solo version is the best of the bunch imo, but i don’t really like any of them. I really like DB but none of the bridges really live up to the rest of the song.

Interesting to hear how many options they had. I kind of like the first one, but only if they had added some other lyrics besides “na na na.” I agree with Katy that I think what they ended up with, between her solo version as well as the Nicki rap, were the best of the bunch.
