The melody on energy's chorus is good
Avril it's a pro with that
But haw was going in such a "generic" way...
Critics would destroy her even more with songs like these. HAW is very adult contemporary and not much Avril, but it does sound genuine. This outtakes don't really have that imo. So I'm glad she changed the direction

I guess we know where that βruffβ snippet that leaked of her coming up with a melody went! Itβs the same melody used in the verses of Energy! Itβs pretty cool that it actually ended up somewhere.

Energy starts out quite interesting but once the chorus begins it instantly becomes generic and already sounds dated - Can see why they left that on the cutting room floor.

The vibe fits the HAW era. Lyrics don't make sense to me, they're just phrases. They obviously abandoned this song early, it's very raw.
I think if they worked hard on the lyrics and music, it would be a great replacement for Bigger Wow and Love Me Insane.

I'm a total sucker for melodic EDM and anything influenced by it. Some of the lyrics are kinda dumb but I do like the vibe a lot. No it's not her, and I wouldn't even want it on an album. But I love when her B sides surprise me. |

Oh my, controversial opinion coming. I love it. The beginning is kind of weird but once it gets going I can tell it's a good song. It fits the general theme of her HAW b-sides. I like this kind of music and it would fit in the category of Wings Clipped in her discography. Yeah, it's not "her" pop rock is definitely her thing. She does a pretty good pop punk sound too but that's the thing! Her voice is universal and I like seeing glimpses of other directions she could have taken in her career(jazz, indie pop). It's too bad the pop era was so watered down and generic. Now the country rock tunes please.

The lyrics are about beleiving in spiritual things like fate and intuition and how she can feel this person's energy, saying even if she tries to fight it fate will bring them back together.
I like songs like this and Bright. It would have been intersting to see her go with this more atmospheric pop sound instead of playing it safe like she did on HAW.
