Nah- but I think it depends who associates the songs more with their relationship. Sure, Let me go definitely is about them- not sure about Falling Fast. But people typically associate songs with people in their own lives rather than the Artist
I can see why some people would feel that way about it but I personally don't. I never put much stock into their relationship and am not shocked to hear it's ended. To me it will always just be a phase of her life and career. If nobody knew they were together, people would have just thought it was like any normal collaboration. I'd say the music video is a little more awkward now. But you can still think of it as just a collaboration they did.
I do think that FF is about Chad but since there's no direct references to him it can be seen as just a general love song.
It's not like fans don't still watch her LG era videos when Jesse was in them, or TBDT when Deryck was involved. It will be the same with Chad. They are just phases of her life/career.
"The great thing about Lavigne's songwriting is that it always conveys a deeper meaning without overreaching or busting out the thesaurus. The piano driven "Hush Hush" emits a rush of feelings - regret, anger, desperation, nakedness and finally, faint hopefulness - and unpacks them tidily presenting as Lavigne as a pop artist one can trust to handle the job." - Billboard
I agree with Kaiye. Those songs might be a bit awkward for Avril right now (although she seemed to have no problem having Deryck produce breakup songs that were literally about him) but I don't see why it should be weird for fans.
I personally have no problem listening to LMG and FF.
However, I can't watch the early AL era interviews with Avril without feeling sad. Those interviews used to make me feel so happy because of Avril's excitement about Chad. The way Avril radiated happiness was amazing. But now it only makes me feel sad.
