[ALBUM] AL8 Speculation Thread

i think the project is no longer in works. perhaps because i always thought it was like one of the cool ideas she got being with Mod Sun, who's very cinematic.
but i'm ready to be positively surprised


speaking of the studio - she's been quite open about recording new music so i'd guess she's still in the writing/recording process and we'll get something new in the spring to make some buzz for the summer festival run and maybe she'll do some tiny, radio festivals in the US 

Hm... I'm not a big fan of what they done with "Let Go" mixing for the 20th anniversary edition last year. I prefer demos, b-sides and live at Budokan audio as special tracks of the 20th anniversary ediition of "Under My Skin".

Reworkings are just a way of getting streams. It's something people listen to just to see what, if anything, is different. If they just put out the same album with some b-sides most people would skip to the b-sides. I don't mind it since it doesn't replace the original version, it's just another option.
I do hope we get UMS 20th though it's not been confirmed and if we do a few new b-sides would be great (especially Daydream) because that era has always been something of a closed book.

Sk8er Boi movie, who knows? It takes years to get a movie off the ground and there's a million reasons why it might fall through that have nothing to do with whether Avril lost interest in it or not. She doesn't even need to be very involved with it at all tbh

you have to know that Avril‘s still pretty big in Europe. People in Europe of course love her for being their idol back in 2002-2007 but they also do really care about what she‘s doing now.
that‘s why I think it‘s great that she‘s doing all these EU festivals, everyone is excited about her being there.
I also remember after her sold out show in Vienna april 2023 I saw lots of people wearing the love sux tour t-shirt in june at the exact festival she will be playing next year.
People really appreciate her newest album and don‘t only listen to her because of LG or UMS.

I really hope she does UMS anniversary because it is her 2nd most sold album of all seven. And it's generally speaking, the fan favourite!

L.A. Reid Sued for Sexual Assault

Drew Dixon, who starred in the documentary On the Record detailing her harassment and assault allegations against Russell Simmons and L.A. Reid, is suing Reid for sexual assault. According to Reuters, Dixon is accusing Reid of sexually assaulting her in 2001 and then derailing her music career. She is seeking “unspecified compensatory and punitive damages” under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, which gives survivors a year to sue for sexual assault even after the criminal statute of limitations has expired. Dixon advocated for the act’s passage in New York. According to Ms., Dixon was pivotal in recording such songs as “American Boy” and “My Love Is Your Love.” At the time of the alleged assaults, Reid was the head of Arista Records, and garnered fame for shaping the careers of artists like Usher and Pink.

This is old news even though the article is current. He was removed from Epic Records and of course denied the allegations but I don’t remember what else ever came of this.
