Kelly Clarkson monthly listeners went from 20 millions to 50 millions on Spotify last Christmas season. She used to be under Avril around 19 millions while Avril 20 millions last year. So maybe Avril should release Christmas album, even though I'm not Christian and probably won't listen to the song more than a dozen times.

I think there may have been some inkling of an attempt for a Christmas boost with O Holy Night, but there isn't much impact for any year since then, a Christmas album or single sounds good in theory, but I don't know how it would do in practice.

A Xmas album could work in a year when she plans to release a new album the year after that. In a year when she's promoting a new era would've just be a mess. I personally don't know If I NEED a christmas album from her, but who knows, maybe it can highlight her voice in a way we haven't seen before and actually be a good experience.

I believe she could, like we got Baby It's Cold Outside š She just needs to get the timing right otherwise, yeah, it's going to be a mess. I don't mind if it happens when she gets older and maybe more serious

Avril could've have more streams in december because of "What Child Is This?" if she cared a bit of her cover of this song. I don't get it, it's one of "her" most interesting tracks for years. Spotify would definetely add the track on āThis Is Avril Lavigneā playlist (+500k subscribers). This version is not my cup of tea tho but it's definetely interesting and different from what people expected from her, at least nowadays.
Maybe she's waiting to promote a christmas song when she releases her xmas album. I'd love to hear more collabs with Tommee Profit. He did a great production on this version. He also made Avril explore other areas of her voice, something that iād love hearing on her catalogue at this point of her career. I hope we could listen to the songs theyāve done together right after HAW, as he once said.

I think it can highlight her voice and since Iām not Christian either, I donāt have a religion but I do like Christmas songs so it would be nice to listen to her songs during the holidays while being around the table with friends and family and I would hear her voice. But the timing has to be good indeed, what you say totally makes sense!! After a new album or before a whole new era.

I do agree with the Christmas albums thing being kind of annoyin with Artists like Kelly Clarkson, i was binging her music last summer but when i got to ehr 2 chcristmas albums that arre legit sandwiched in between 2 albums i was like shit either i lsiten to this now or wait till December and i skipepd them for now and i felt weird still needing to listen to 2 of her albums cuz they were Christmas. But if Avril wants to do a punk rock Christmas albumt hat might be awesome. Hey who knows but the fact we got a Cher Tyga christmas collab and not Avril Christmas album yet is crazy lmao

My two cents on the topics recently discussed:
- Avril has grown so much in her career I cannot understand people don't seeing it? HAW, her 6th album, has some of the finest writing of her whole career, only challenged/surpassed by LG, and I mean almost all songs (songs she probably got more help, songs that were her concept and songs she mainly/exclusively wrote). Not trying to say she is the best, but she got better for sure. Even AL5, which can be a hit or miss in every aspect, is still a step up from UMS and GL in terms of lyrics. Vocally she has improved a lot, even if we get disappointing performances during the tours. Again, HAW probably has her best studio vocals. Some of her best live vocals were seen in early GL promotion, as well as the online performances during covid (HAW-LS hiatus).
- She will always go back to the LS-type of sound. Two years ago people were salivating at the idea of Avril doing pop-punk. LS was extremely well received by both fans and critics when it came out, and a lot of the reception wasn't based on writing or quality of the songs, but in the aesthetics of the album, the collaborations and the general idea of her being bratty and punk and upbeat. She has been casted in this role for the general audience, we like silly rhymes and bratty lyrics over some loud guitar, and she knows it. She probably enjoys making those songs, and she will always capitalize on that.
- Now, I truly hope we get more exploration going forward, she has proven before how she can defy expectations (No album from TBDT to HAW was a safe bet, even if we got girlfriend replicates ever since in every album)
Edit: Didn't read that the discussion should be taken into another thread before posting, sorry!

First red carpet of the era? "Weāre told Shania Twain, Ice Spice, Maluma, Charlie Puth, Avril Lavigne, Demi Lovato,Gladys Knight, Quavo, Smokey Robinson, Joan Collins, Don Lemon, Ava DuVernay, Lana Del Ray and Earth Wind and Fire are also all expected. The party will honor Sony Music Publishing Chairman and CEO Jon Platt." Last year she was late and didn't showed up at the red carpet tho pagesix.com/2024/01/18/entertainment/beyonce-and-jay-z-expected-at-clive-davis-pre-grammy-gala/

Assuming new music is coming out this year, she's likely to go this year.

Wonder if itāll give us a bit of an idea of what sheās going for style wise this era. Maybe not as I find generally her pre-era starting looks end up being nothing like how she dresses when it starts, but who knows. Interested to see the outfit either way

The times she went there never really coincided with her about to release something new, so maybe now she will talk about it in an interview? When she was there with Chad, she hadn't announced an album was on the way yet. Then she was there with Pete, and again, nothing. Last year (with Modsun), she even avoided the red carpet, but she was still promoting love sux. Now chances are higher, but like, if she skips the red carpet again, you can count on the lead being very far away.

That seems like a very random place to promote new music honestly. Do artists still really use interviews or random industry events to announce things? I think they just post on social media now, at least thatās how Ariana announced her new single and album. But it could vary from artist to artist I guess.

Not announcing per se, but they still use those events to tease something is coming. Her last interview she didn't had any clue when she's releasing, but maybe that changed? Who knows
