I just wish she would’ve been more open with her vision or what she’s up to, even if it means the album will be nowhere near but if she has a vision it’s cool to know. I want to be ‘part of the process’, I’m so happy with little updates and stuff but since she scrapped a lot and maybe even now also is scrapping stuff it wouldn’t be wise to do so. But still… she needs to be clear with the directions she’s going and if she knows that please share everything with us fans… We haven’t seen anything around her birthday or Halloween, she just disappeared from the radar again and I always hate that xD

I know this might be an unpopular opinion, especially among fans who feel that the more material an artist releases, the better. But I’m not really on board with the trend of packing a ton of songs into a single album. Of course, I know that it’s part of the music market now, as more songs mean more streaming opportunities. But long albums often end up feeling bloated and weaker overtime... As a Taylor fan, I have to admit that her latest album, in my opinion, missed the mark. There are definitely several tracks from TTPD that I love individually, but as a cohesive body of work, to me it felt disjointed, confusing, and exhausting to get through.
For me, a solid 12 songs are plenty enough for an album. Then, if an artist wants to release more, they could add a deluxe or super deluxe edition, name it as a double album, and call it a day. This way, the original album can stand on its own as a strong piece of work, and any extra songs or deluxe versions are just a bonus for the fans.
It's a better move for the artist's image as they keep the image of someone who can put out a cohesive work, and casual listeners don’t feel overloaded.

This conversation resurfaces every time but she always gives us like 12-13 song albums 😂

I feel like Avril cuts too many songs, and often the wrong ones. We’ve had a few albums from her where the leaked tracks are better than a good chunk of the ones she included. Just include a few extra!
Meanwhile there’s definitely some artists that could do with cutting down a bit more. Taylor could easily have cut a load of The Anthology tracks. Morgan Wallen could’ve cut quite a few songs from his most recent album too and had a more solid piece of work. Theres definitely a middle ground to be found.

She had absolute masterpieces like Bright and Lights Out and decided to put goddess instead.

Especially while making that album, she kept saying she didn’t give a shit about popular music trends

If she truly didn’t care about trends for that album Then DB wouldn’t have been on it. She tried to do two different album for HAW when she should have just release original HAW and then LS have Dumb Blonde

I think it’s more because she probably didn’t have much hand in writing those. And I don’t think she wanted the entire album to be dark/songs about Lyme, she specifically mentioned wanting some fun love songs again.

I wish she’d just suck it up on the writing thing sometimes lol. She needs help to write really good songs, that’s fine, accept it and release the good stuff Avril!

I can see why she is adamant about having writing credits though. She gets more royalties if she is a writer and not just the performer. She also gets the publishing rights I believe which means she gets a say in what happens to the song in other capacities, like if it can be licensed in TV or film projects, other artists can cover it or rework it like that Boyfriend song, etc. Not to mention she has always branded herself as an artist who writes her songs. It would sort of ruin that image. It’d be like if Taylor recorded a song she didn’t write, it’s just not what her brand is.

Yeah i get why and i do respect her for it, it’s just annoying as a fan when she clearly writes such better songs with a bit more help and we never get them (at least not officially lol)

There are a few exceptions though. IFILWTD and BOAH were self written and they're amongst the best from her imo. I believe NH too!?

If she truly didn’t care about trends for that album Then DB wouldn’t have been on it. She tried to do two different album for HAW when she should have just release original HAW and then LS have Dumb Blonde Goddess is a lovely song. I think all songs on HAW really fit because of the very dark beginning, Lyme and a bad relationship (including DB! It's still that bad relationship), and then finding inner peace and strength (IWIM), a new lovely relationship with lighter love songs and then overcoming Lyme with Warrior. That whole concept of a story is freaking awesome! I know this might be an unpopular opinion, especially among fans who feel that the more material an artist releases, the better. But I’m not really on board with the trend of packing a ton of songs into a single album. Of course, I know that it’s part of the music market now, as more songs mean more streaming opportunities. As much as I love more and more Avril song I must agree. Especially if a proper Deluxe or Back-to-back album exists. The Taylor example is perfect. TTPD is too long and I think from the 2nd part 2-3 extremely good songs are on it but overall it has too many fillers, I don't want to feel drained listening to an Avril album. But still, 15-17 songs is maybe a little necessary after all those 12-13 tracks.

I think TTPD is a masterpiece, not on the first or second listen, its a grower, but anyway.... Its a Taylor thing, I would never ever expect that from avril, shes a 12 song record every 3-4 years type of artist and thats perfectly fine. Its okay to keep it good and simple, not everyone has to go extreme now only because Taylor does. Avrils great at what she does and how she does it and if a banger leaks I'll be happy. But give us AL8, Avril, GH Era doesnt count! 😅😁

Yeah I think Taylor is getting over saturated with how many albums she’s put out since 2019, I mean it’s been 1-2 albums every year. I love Taylor but it’s just a lot. Give us time to breathe and enjoy. And I don’t think fans like feeling pressured to buy the next thing after they just bought the previous thing. I wish Avril would fill out her albums a bit more but I do think because of Taylor releasing so many damn albums it’s distorted peoples view of how music used to be, they think waiting 2-3 years for a new album is a long wait even though it used to be the norm. In February it will only have been 3 years since LS. If she could get a new album out sometime by next year that’s not that long of a wait.
