Swifties are pretty demanding, and Taylor makes sure not to give fans in one show a different experience than those at another. That’s why, even during crisis such as after the tragic loss of a fan in Rio, her following show was identical apart from chosing a different and unexpected surprise song that she probably never planned to sing live and will probably never sing again.
This approach may be limiting... but at the same time artists like Avril have faced criticism for varying energy levels and interaction across different concerts.
Being scripted or robotic has its benefits, especially with such a massive fanbase. Taylor wants to ensure that fans in one city don’t feel any less valued than those attending shows on other dates or in other locations. In our case, just imagine those who attended the first show of GH Tour by Avril, for example, and then in the following shows her setlist was enlarged and her approach and interaction with fans has improved a lot. That can be a bit disappointing.

I’m not new to going to gigs and concerts or am I new to Taylor Swift as a live performer so of course I know that acts say pretty much the same thing every concert. Taylor is very robotic. If you’ve been to her concert and then you watch the film of it, you can really see how scripted it is, it’s very sugary sweet. This is fine but all I’m saying is that, for me, it does take something away from the performance. Even Beyoncé on the Renaissance tour went off script and would have interaction with fans. Of course Avril has a script and says the same things in each city. But I’ve been her enough times to know she can mix it up a bit and she’s way better in making it sound more natural than Taylor is. But Taylor has mixed up some of her interactions with fans. There are parts of the show that are scripted to be pretty much the same, but there are other parts where she gets to improvise a bit and be more relaxed. There are at least 4 parts of the show I can think of where she gets a chance to really talk to the crowd: before Lover, before ATW, before Champagne Problems, and during the surprise songs. She will change what she says to suit the moment, whether it’s greeting the crowd in their native language, discussing her career, the importance of the Taylor’s Versions and thanking fans for their support of it, or talking about the tour itself. She definitely doesn’t just say the exact same things every single show. There ARE parts where she comes across as genuine and really talks to the crowd about how much she appreciates them, etc.

To be fair, first nights will always be a risk. Rehearsing and then performing the show for the first time are always going to be very different things. It’s like this with theatre where they go through a month or so of previews before the show officially opens and remains the same form then on. Concerts don’t have previews.
Even Beyoncé took out a section of her show on the Renaissance tour after the first night in Stockholm and never performed it again the whole of Europe. She only put it back in for certain dates when she was in the US even though she was hounded online for it by fans.
It’s fine that a lot of you can enjoy Taylor’s rigid performance but it’s not for me. Avrils not putting on shows the same length or scale and yes her energy is up and down but actually I think I prefer it.

The difference I think is Avril is actually down to earth and chill, whereas Taylor is trying so hard to make herself seem that way.

I have to completely disagree lol. Avrils GH tour was very good but the Era’s tour is its own beast, they’re not really comparable. I had a lot of fun at the GH tour and it’s definitely the best I’ve ever seen Avril. The Eras tour was hands down the best show I’ve ever seen full stop. And yeah, every show is nearly identical other than the surprise songs - with a production that big and long you can’t really switch things up much. With all due respect to Avril, the only switching up of things she really does is randomly removing songs from the already short setlist lol. Will agree re the support though, simple plan are a great support act. We had Paramore for my Taylor show and i thought they were shocking No, I do agree with you that the production aspect of Taylor's tour is insane and it's not something you can compare to the Eras tour as obviously it's pretty fixed/on a click track and can't be too different every night. For me, it just makes her seem really robotic, it's too choreographed, 'ok now i will turn to my right and wave, and now i will turn to my left and wave' etc. I will disagree with you about Paramore though, I thought they were fantastic, Hayley's got a cracking set of lungs. Hayley and the whole band are amazing! I saw them live 3 times times already. Its shocking how they always get better on stage, even in different eras and albums. I attended to one of the concerts of The Eras Tour in other country, where Paramore was the opening act. In my honest opinion, Hayleys stage presence swallowed Taylors. Maybe Im more amused to rock pop concerts.

The way she talks about going to the studio for the new album is as if the last 2 years of her working never happened. I wonder if she is starting over.

Does that interview sound weird to anyone else? When have we ever heard Avril say stuff like this…
“and it’s incredibly serendipitous that our paths have been able to cross like this.”
“everyone’s individual voice unified as this massive force”

I thought that too. I wonder if it was a written interview maybe?

I thought that when she said “Going through the process of choosing was a trip down memory lane. These songs are such a big part of who l am and my life and career. I am looking forward to going back to the studio now. Feeling very inspired to get into the creative process for the new album.” it was alluding to her giving her new album the sounds of her old stuff. Or at least I hope. Man I’d be so happy
