I've been critical of Avril in the past and when I saw her first couple of performances on the GH tour, I was less than impressed and quite annoyed as I thought she didn't really care to be there. However, when I saw her in Manchester, the performance was fantastic! Great vocals, really good energy, she seemed genuinely happy to be there and interacted with the crowd well. In fact it was probably my favourite time seeing her.
I wouldn't really want Avril to be dancing around / having choreographed sets... am I the only one who found her "dancing" parts of The Best Damn Tour really awkward and not her at all? 😂
Her vocals have been on point recently and she's had a sincerity about her, so I'm quite happy if she continues like this. Just no going back to uncaring Avril... even if she has to fake it.

Honestly, the whole concert culture has established it's own rules over the years. You are not just a singer anymore, you are a performer, you need to interact with the audience, make it entertaining, eye-catching, a whole modern art museum experience i would dare to say. I'm not saying i agree with that concep, but I understand why it came to this. It only takes a few very talented performers to do that and set the trend. Sadly for Avril, she is just not like that. In a way I admire her for staying true to herself and just go on stage and try to sing her best even if now she's not at her prime voice-wise, struggles with high notes, relies heavily on backing vocal tracks and overall just doesn't deliver the strong and clean vocals she had 15 years ago... Maybe Lyme and age did affect her in some way. Who knows. Energy was never there. As I said, she's just not type of person. So I definitely understand the criticism. Which is part of the reason I wish she would transition to a more acoustic sound, i don't know, John Mayer type of songs? Boring Taylor? You know what i mean. That way she could just sit and sing, instead of performing songs with 100x more energy than your whole energy as a person. I'll give her that she gives her all when she's drunk LOL but you can't play that game too often before it ger dangerous. In conclusion, she needs vocal lessons (in my opinion) again, and maybe acting lessons if she wants to keep these type of concerts or just switch it up completely. I disagree with a lot of this. I think Avril should be her true self. I don’t want a manufactured Avril on the stage, I think her sometimes up and down personality is what keeps her real and interesting. I went to two concerts on GH and each one was slightly different which I really enjoyed. I want to keep it as real as possible even if it’s not “perfect”. If you want perfect go listen to recordings

mm I disagree. fans are paying a huge amount of money for concert tickets - sorry but if she’s having a bad day she needs to suck it up and still put on a great show for those paying fans. you shouldn’t ever go to a show and her look like she doesn’t even want to be there, which absolutely is the case with Avril sometimes. it’s so disrespectful towards fans. I don’t expect a perfect show every time but I do expect her to respect her fans enough to put on the absolute best she can.
(though none of this is really relevant recently lol she’s been fab on the GH shows from Europe onwards)

I think it’s reasonable to expect she’ll have a bad day every now and again, she’s only human, but she should aim to be relatively consistent show to show 98% of the time. It’s completely not fair if some fans get a way better show or longer setlist while others might get low energy from her and less songs. An off night a couple of times is understandable. Especially if she’s sick or something. But by and large the shows should be more or less the same throughout the whole tour.

Cool she is going on tour again but why no international dates this time?
If the tour is not starting until May I wonder if she will have new music by then.

I hate it. It means that there's no new music.

Bye bye AL8. No seriously, she can't prepare and roll out then new album in 5 months, she will just write and record, probable go on tour, then maybe end of the year a single. As long as:
- No new dates will be added (South America, Asia, Europe again?) - Going on tour with friends will make her feel inspired again and she will scrap also the 2nd session

I guess it makes sense commercially, she really is riding a big wave of popularity and who can blame in wanting to extend that for as long as possible. But yeah I can't help but feel a little deflated as a fan because it likely means new music is further away than we think.

Love how well she's treating her legacy and how she's thriving on this tour. But...
No international dates have been announced (yet); No new material seems to be on the horizon (yet); Fans are left wondering what’s next...
I'd rather wait for her next steps before celebrating too much.

I would think it’s likely she may at least have a teaser single or 2. There’s gotta be something different they will change up about the setlist to make it different. Cause most people have already seen this show and if she is just playing all the exact same songs in the same order with the same costumes, same set decor, it won’t be exciting at all. I’m hoping there will be some changes, even if it’s only some new costumes or slight changes to the onstage visuals. But I’m hoping for a new song or 2 to add to the setlist because at this point LS is the newest thing on there that will be 3 years old by then.

Also I think we have to start accepting that live shows are mainly how artists make their money these days. Not that Avril is exactly hurting for cash or that she doesn’t earn a decent income from streaming but it’s common knowledge music sales aren’t what they used to be and they only get a fraction of income from it. I can see why Avril is milking this tour considering it sold out the first time around, they are going to milk it if it’s profitable. It’s way more profitable for her to do a tour of her back catalog that interests the GP than to put out new music, sadly. Can’t really blame her for following where the money goes. It doesn’t mean that we won’t still get new music eventually, maybe just not as soon as we would have hoped. It’s clear from her recent statements she probably scrapped 90% of what she did since 2022 and is starting over. Of course it’ll take more time. The tour is a way to keep her name out there and fans engaged as she prepares the new album.

She's milking the situation as much as she can which in understandable, but she's become so boring my god ahah
She's not anything but ordinary anymore.
I hope Bogo is right cause doing the same show with the same setlist, same costumes.. 😴

No international dates have been announced (yet); No new material seems to be on the horizon (yet); Fans are left wondering what’s next... I'd rather wait for her next steps before celebrating too much. They’ll clearly announce international dates. This is just a victory run because she tour sold so well, she was given the option, round 2 of the states? And she said yes. She hasn’t sold out arenas in the states in 15 years before this tour, so smart move to do it while she can and the iron is hot again.
