The music market has changed a lot, but I also think she’s not that ambitious.
Beyoncé is still putting out quality albums nowadays, as well as Lana Del Rey. They’re about the same age as Avril.
Mariah and Madonna were still pretty active back then. But OK, people are different.
She’s going down a different route, and there’s nothing to do but accept it. I just hope this nostalgia and legacy phase in her career gives her enough breath to resurface with something new and fresh. But it’s clear her fanbase has grown more inactive, with many moving on to become fans of other artists.
That said, I’m glad the general public is still interested in seeing her live and singing along to the old classics.

Just saw one of the dates is at Madison Square Garden. This is HUGE for her! I think her team definitely saw how well this tour sold and wanted to see if they could get her in venues like this, especially after she got to play it with MGK, she probably wanted to see if she could sell it out herself. She has never played a headlining show at MSG even in her peak. She even said Madison Square Garden is her dream venue to play, so it’s amazing as it’s also a personal accomplishment for her.

I’m not really sure why anyone is surprised she’s tapping into the “legacy” artist brand. 7 albums may not be a lot but she is 40 and been at this since she was a teen. Her battle with Lyme didn’t help, it maybe even caused permanent health effects we don’t know about. The music industry has greatly changed from 10-20 years ago. Music has a much shorter shelf life than it ever has thanks to social media and short attention spans, with too many artists competing for such a small amount of attention/airtime. Music sales are down except for vinyls and unless your name is Taylor Swift. The pandemic put a massive pause on the live music industry. The fact Avril has even managed to roll with all these changes as well as she has and is still here is pretty impressive when you think about it. I think she genuinely enjoys being in the studio (maybe a little too much, to her own detriment) and enjoys creating new songs. She will always be doing that, no doubt. But I think fans need to accept the old days are gone and her album releases will look different than how they used to be. She doesn’t necessarily need to put out a new album every 2 years. The tours don’t necessarily need to support the new album. She IS a legacy artist and she’s likely making a ton more money doing it too. For all we know she could decide to launch a Vegas residency next. At least with the tours there are still opportunities for fans to see her in their area, whereas I can’t see a lot of fans traveling specifically to Vegas. But yes, as she gets older, it’s to be expected her career is going to look different, likely less albums, less new songs on tour, etc. We all have fond memories of her from our childhoods and the fun of seeing a new, fresh era, but I think we have to let go of that image of her and accept she’s getting older, doesn’t have the same label support she once did, and the industry as a whole is way different. Even Taylor is slowing down with her album releases, she doesn’t do as much promo for them anymore because she doesn’t need to. She puts out a few videos and calls it a day. The money is in touring. I think it's just jarring how we go from quicker releases (both AL and LS came out fairly quickly in hindsight) to her taking forever to release an album. I was hoping that once she found her people with Travis' label and Feldman (as she herself said), things would start happening much faster. But I guess that's on me for setting expectations for someone as predictably unpredictable as Avril, lol. I saw Avril live for the first time this year, and I loved it. I was glad she came slightly closer to my country for once, but for most people who don’t live in America or simply can’t afford to attend one of her concerts, her touring again isn't all that exciting. Personally, I’d much rather have new music. Exactly, I just can't believe people are genuine super stoked for this, I get it, when you're there it's amazing and you'll love every minute of it, and yes from her perspective it's easy money. But the same setlist? Outfits? Stage? Same 1 hour length concerts? A lot of people can't afford to go to the US, let alone get days off from work to go, maybe someday but for a 1 hour show? And in the latest interview we've read that "She was ready and felt inspired to go to the studio and make new music"... Like... nah what is this? I just can't really believe people find this more exciting than a new album. Even if we all can't do anything about it I'm not gonna be that fan that just is super okay with it. That sounds super stupid but I really hoped some announcement was about a new single or something. Even the Love Sux tour was better because she was longer on stage and didn't only played festivals. The Greatest Hits Tour in Europe was only festivals for f*ck sake. I don't have to mention I love her and she's such a huge part of my life and will always respect her but I'm not happy if we aren't getting new music in 2025. She could also release an EP in 2025, there are so many options but I think since the Greatest Hits Tour will continue there isn't room for another big thing in 2025. Some other artists can do that but I don't see this with Avril, would be a fun surprise tho!

Hi! I saw on ticketmaster that the Madison square garden gig will be subject to change due to playoff... do you know when they could announce the new date? I would like to buy the ticket for this show but I'm afraid they'll change the date and I won't be able to go. Thank you!

I dont mind she do the same tour again if it was bigger than she expect if she comes to UK again I will go just for sake to see her but problem is she dont feed the people enough how great opportunity release (I know) Christmas Album this year (that she again mentioned in 2023 interview that she want released it then she said or maybe next year which means 2024) but again nothing she could at least keep hype around this season between the same tour but still give something to fans without too much effort and then make something like GH deluxe before tour with some unreleased songs from each era (even re-recorded) and make some notes to it or lyrics videos or just release EP with something on spotify not perform it live. Will see anyway there is time around she could release something maybe she will do new single and album in september-october ( i think she could did it this year but whatever) Lets see what will comes next but on other side I so happy she trying to do bigger venues this time and hope she will be more confident for the future and keep going

I wouldn't feel too downbeat about the prospect of waiting longer for an album. As has previously been said Avril isn't really at a stage where she needs to be putting a new album out pretty much one after the other. She doesn't have to do anything anymore really, so yeah another tour is great as far as I'm concerned if it means she is still active as an artist.
I could be really tempted by the New York show actually. Iconic venue right in the heart of NYC. Only thing putting me off is if I book it then she announces UK shows and I regret it.

Yeah I don’t think anyone meant to imply a second leg of GH tour is better/more exciting than new music. It’s not. But some people seem almost upset about it or think it definitely means no new music at all next year when there’s still plenty of opportunities considering the tour is only from May to June. And predictions already that the show will be exactly the same when we have no way of knowing that either.
If anything I can see her making a few slight adjustments to the setlist, like maybe she will cut Smile and/or LIWHYM to make room for a new single or 2 if she has one by then. Probably not a lot of other changes. It’s clear with the 2024 leg they tried to pay some homage to UMS for its 20th anniversary with kind of a mini “set” of those songs all together and the UMS inspired jersey she wore for it, plus they had the jacket from the album cover on display at the memorabilia stand for VIPs. But now that UMS’s anniversary has passed maybe she will switch up the order of the songs slightly or can we maybe even hope she heard fan requests to add a surprise song each night? Ashton Michael reposted her announcement too, maybe he designed at least a few new costumes?
Considering they changed the poster and went for a hot pink/blue theme instead of the black/green/orange tells me they are aiming to differentiate these legs at least a little bit in terms of marketing and visuals. They could have easily just reused the same poster. Just at least give her a chance to see what she does with the new leg before immediately writing it off. We know literally nothing right now about her plans for next year, if she’ll at least have a new single, or if there will be changes to the show. Another run of dates is still better than her being holed up in the studio all year with her “soons” and silence.

its Important to take a step back and not be so negative. I’m so happy she’s doing another tour, I’ll be going to two shows most likely. I can’t wait. Who knows, maybe this will inspire her to do more writing for the new album. The one thing I’ll say is I hope she played more LG and UMS songs on this tour. Maybe better GL representation as well.
How do we get presale tickets?

Isn't it too fast for her to get another North America tour? I hope it doesn't bite her back and there are not many sold out arenas. I hope she adds another tour dates for Asia before the North America dates, if she's not planning to release AL8.

How do we get presale tickets? If you’ve read more posts of mine you would know I’m always the one who is supportive and not negative. Quite funny to be point out as negative when I just wrote down my exact feelings. the color theme is interesting tho since it’s not the same as 2024 but I think it doesn’t really mean something but it’s just fresh looking for the new leg of the tour. how fun would it be if she has all planned and sorted out that after the GH Tour part 2 she announce a new single and album? I’m dreaming too much tho lol. someone else pointed out it was a missed opportunity for the Christmas album this year and I agree. It would be a nice fit if you aren’t planning on releasing a whole new album before a part 2 of a tour.

I got Pit tickets for the Maryland Heights, MO show! Super excited! I was front row at the Las Vegas concert last year and hopefully I can be super close again.
