[SINGLE] BULLETPROOF (Nate Smith Collab)

She sounded great! I only wish she had worn something different on top, the bell bottoms suit her, but the hoodie was too casual. Had she worn like a fitted jacket or denim jacket or a motorcycle jacket or something it would have elevated her look so much.

It did seem like she struggled with the higher harmonies on the chorus. Her solo verse sounded very solid and I LIVE for that low note she was doing after the bridge before they went into the chorus again. Her low register is underutilized IMO but she’s got a great low register. She sounds great singing country. Not a super big fan of this particular song but I hope this is her exploring and testing the waters to maybe go further.

The original song just reached top10 on US country radio today. The duet version probably had an impact on them playing it more (not sure if they are playing both tho)

I've given the song a couple more listens, and I think I like it better now. It's still not really my vibe, but it is enjoyable for what it is. It's certainly very catchy, very radio-friendly in that regard. I also like how you can listen to it no matter what mood you're in. It's really just the pitch-correction that is the worst offender here.

The live performance was fine imo. With so many performances being pitch-corrected before uploading, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this did NOT happen here (well, there doesn't seem to be an official upload (yet) except for a short, but that doesn't sound pitch-corrected to me either). Yay!

I liked that Avril went for the higher harmonies in the beginning, I hadn't expected that. She and Nate also seem to have really good chemistry; he seems to bring her out of her shell more (she generally appears a lot more energetic and relaxed when she gets to share the stage with another singer - maybe she should consider starting a band, or a musical duo?).

However, I thought they both sounded quite out of breath throughout the performance. The backing track was too loud in the beginning (before Avril came on stage). And it's a bit of a shame that Avril dodged all the higher notes towards the ending.

As for her outfit, I actually kinda like it. It has such cozy vibes. Nate wasn't wearing some fancy tuxedo either, so I don't really see the problem with Avril wearing something more relaxed.

Thought she sounded great, particularly that low note as others have mentioned. Shows off her vocals so much better than a lot of her own music does.

Interested to see where this goes. Whilst this song isn’t exactly country, she’s definitely going out of her way to involve herself in that scene.

I agree, it's really cool of her to drop tour rehearsals for the performance. And I also think it's really nice how it seemed so important to Nate to mention that. I just love seeing them together, nothing but good, happy vibes.
