The song has been gaining +200k streams for a few days now. Is it getting played on Country radio or are they playing the original?

I was in Arizona in May and we heard some Country radio there. I hoped that they play it since it was new, and they did. When the song started playing, I turned up the radio. But they only played the solo version and I was so upset! I don't know if they ever played the Collab. Maybe they don't, bc my impression is that they don't allow much influence from other genres.

is it really that successful tho? I mean the song in general. I have the feeling you still rather hear fake as hell than bulletproof...? maybe its just me tho idk...

Can we consider it a flop already?

I don't think it's a flop, since the song climbed the Hot 100 after the remix. It was a win for him - the main artist of the song. However, her version hasn't made enough points to chart with her credits, though the duet did perform decently on streaming platforms. So in this case, yeah, make her version 'flopped'. But it's really hard to compete with the radio airplay on country stations since the remix wasn't released to radio an all the points were counted for the solo version.

Bulletproof was already a hit on the country charts. They weren't going to switch his version to play what's essentially a cut and paste remix on the radio. It reminds me of HAW ft. Travis Clark. Something you'd put on as a bonus track if he decides to turn his EP into an album. The only big deal about it was their CMA performance otherwise I think it would have gone under the radar.

I believe this remix was created solely to boost the original song, and it achieved this goal. A secondary purpose might be to help Avril take a new step into the country scene. She's taking baby steps in the genre because, as we know, country music isn't very open to outsiders. One needs to be carefully accepted before fully committing... I guess that's why she is attending events, continually mentioning her beginnings in country music, and reminding people about her relationship with Shania, among other things. It feels like just laying the ground for a future project. Not long ago, an article from HDD discussed how non-country artists - some considered outsiders -, such as Beyoncé and Post Malone, attempting to dominate the country music scene has sparked resentment among the "Nashville elite" and "influential people" for country-labels. Considering her background, I wouldn't be surprised if were to sign a deal with a Nashville-based label for her possible/future country project... But I don't see it coming anytime soon.

That’s exactly what I think as well and what I mentioned on my last podcast episode. I think Avril is slowly immersing herself in the country scene by doing these collabs and things so the audience becomes familiar with her before she tries to do anything major.

And that's how I imagined things to go but not in this sound :/ I hope it's not all boy's club with her again.
