ALL Ryzen CPUs are unlocked and all save the lowest end mobo chipsets can overclock! No bullshit "unlocked" CPUs like Intel.

After temporarily swapping my GTX 1060 for an RX 480, here are my thoughts: - Battlefield 1 runs better. It is an AMD-optimized title after all.
- GTA V and Overwatch run slightly worse I'd imagine.
- AMD Radeon Settings is a lot more lightweight than Nvidia GeForce Experience. And it doesn't do telemetry bullshit!
- This is specific to the model I have (MSI Armor) but the silent fan is really nice. Initially I saw my GPU idling at 55C and I thought that was pretty hot until I saw the GPU fan speed at 0 RPM.
- When the fans are on they are pretty quiet until they reach 100% in which case they become fairly loud. The card is never hot enough to require 100% fan speed however.
- It runs fairly cool. Barely goes above 70C at load.
- I prefer the 8-pin power connector over the 6-pin as my PSU has 6+2 pin power connectors. With my 1060 the 2 pin had to be left dangling.
- The MSI Armor looks "naked". I'm not a fan of this but it does help cut costs.
- No bonus features like RGB lighting. But that's to be expected at this price point.
All in all I would be more than happy to have an RX 480 as my main gaming video card.

For sheer performance, I'd have looked for a good deal on an older i7. Depending what he was upgrading from, he might have been able to salvage more parts from his old build, making the whole upgrade markedly cheaper and easier. But the 6600k is no slouch, plus the newer socket, chipset and DDR4 support make it a much better choice for future-proofing. He did good. older I7 that is what i am doing. not exactly upgrading just have 2 spare cases now.

Since the current GPU lineup is pretty confusing (RX 480 4GB and 8GB are pretty much identical, while GTX 1060 3GB is noticeable weaker than 6GB; massive performance gap between 460/470, no high end AMD cards), I created what I envision would be the perfect AMD/Nvidia GPU lineup assuming both remained highly competitive with each other. Current:
Revised: Notable changes: - current RX 460 renamed 'RX 450', new RX 460 would be more powerful but also more expensive
- new RX 470 and RX 480 would be a little stronger, but also a little more expensive
- GTX 1060 3GB renamed 'GTX 1060'
- GTX 1060 6GB renamed 'GTX 1060 Ti'

This is my config, I made this bench awhile ago Beat it bitches, AHAHAH I wanna see some benchmark wars, just install PerformanceTest Passmark's software, and post the given link at the end www.passmark.com/baselines/V8/display.php?id=61766840054Your benchmarks result will become a part of cpubenchmark.net sample, it's like a contribution to the site Once I made a benchmark of a not very common AMD laptop CPU that still had no benchmarks there, the laptop was from my uncle, and then the first result appeared there
