This whole thing is fucking ridiculous. I can't believe the government really thinks some stupid contract is more important than another human's well being. It's truly fucked up that they are siding with her RAPIST and abuser while the victim is forced to continue working with him. I just can't even wrap my brain around that. I know legal contracts are some tough shit and can be extremely difficult to get out (case in point) but this is ridiculous. I'm glad other celebs are speaking up about it though and that a petition is going around to change it. It's sad that it even has to come to this. #Justice4Kesha

I'm a little on the fence in the sense of I don't know the in and out facts. I suppose the judge can't rule against Dr. Luke if there's no evidence, but I'm not aware of the details in full so I'm not entirely sure there WAS no evidence. And ofc the fact that she just asked to be let out of her contract and wasn't pressing charges, when other artists can leave bands because they're unhappy. Seems very unjust on that basis alone.
I'm by no means saying what happened is fair, as Kesha has put her whole career and life on the line for this so I can't see how she was making it up. But because whichever way the decision goes, it has a huge impact on each person, I'm a little on the fence not knowing all the facts. Does that make sense?
It is disgusting that victims of sexual abuse/rape are expected not to have psychological effects and to just speak up to the courts and show video evidence. So I really hope justice is found. #freekesha

Kesha's mom tweeted that Taylor donated 250k dollars. That was sweet of her, considering how Kesha doesn't make much of a living out of her career now and how expensive court cases can be.
And it turns out the petition goal keeps increasing.

As awful as this is, it' makes me wonder is it ever good to have these kinds of contracts with so many records?! She has 8 left to do with Sony, 8! It's not like you could do that many greatest hits, just to get out of it. In the early years of her career the deal must have sounded great, but in the end you can always have so many changes in your career and in general within the music industry that 8 albums sound too much.
Didn't Avril have only 2 album deal in the beginning and then two or three more?! 8 is insanity!

There are some fishy things on Kesha's part (including her mom weird attitude/behaviour sometimes); but at the same time Luke has been criticized due to some questionable actions during his career (like the "Larry Drama", with Butch and Avril), so these allegations might be true. I'm more pro-Kesha than pro-Luke/Sony, and I hope she can finally get out of that insane exclusive contract, it would be the best thing for everyone. |

But why would Kesha put herself through this if the allegations were false? And that heartbreaking photo of her in court I think is evidence enough she is not lying. The same thing happened when the allegations about Bill Cosby came out, at first no one believed it, then it turned out to be true. Kesha could have this guy (wont even call him a man because he's anything but) thrown in jail for what he did, she's not even pressing charges, she just wants to be let out of her contract and free to do music without him. If all she wanted was to be let go I don't think she'd make up these heinous details just for that, especially since there is such a stigma around this still and most women are not believed.

I would also have to say that I'm sitting on the fence on this one because I don't know the truth. I've tried to express some speculative opinions in the other thread (that earned me a 10% warning) but in all honesty I have no idea who is guilty in this instance. It does seem unlikely that Kesha should go to such lengths just to try and cancel a contract without there being any substance to her allegations.

I think it's crazy that after all these years, it's only been quite recently she's decided to talk about this and expect her contract to be broken. This is just crazy. I know that rape is difficult to prove and that a woman might be silent about this issue for years due to many reasons, but how can she "come out" after all these years and expect her contract with him to be broken because that's what she said that happened to her while working with him? I'm really not taking any sides in this issue, but she should have seen it. She should have talked about it a lot earlier. She shouldn't have been afraid of ANYTHING. She should have just come out a lot earlier and talk about it. She should have reported it immediately after the incident. She can't be expecting her contract to be broken, just because she said she was raped, emotionally abused and so on by him, during the period they were making music together, without any evidence whatsoever! I'm not trying to blame her for everything she has gone through and still goes through right now. I'm trying to speak from a completely objective perspective. I know that there is no way she lied to go through this, as she literally gets nothing out of it, like some have already said. But she should have been careful about saying it a lot later withouy ANY evidence and "demanding" her contract should be broken, just because of her allegations. Just a few thoughts...
