Still can't get over that guitar build up in Remember When right before the bridge. Chills!

If "Understand Me" became "Push", maybe "Everybody Hurts" and "Not Enough" were from UMS era too. These 3 songs have the same writers (Avril & Evan) and producer (Dereyck). Furthermore, these songs are emotional and dark - typical UMS song. đ¤

Deryck wasn't known to produce anything for her until TBDT though so I think they just completely reworked Understand Me into something new with none of the original production.

I must admit that I often forget about the existence of the Alice song, although I like it. But only now I noticed these loud breaths that are usually always cut out. Avril's singing/screaming starts to hurt my ears by the middle of the second chorus and I just get tired. I'd really prefer to listen to the live version in a different key.

I would like an acoustic version where she could soften all those loud notes something more like how she did that cover of Imagine. Her voice was so nice in that from what I remember

But in this performance I really love how she ends with those soft high notes: I won't cryyyyy. Love that! I would also love an acoustic album (with new songs tho) Or a jazzy album, her voice fits that genre too! I love TMIO but sometimes it also gets a bit annoying with the: T ell me it's OOOOOOOVERRRRR. .....closing the doooooorrrrr nooohooo. Way too loud for listening to that during the evening for example.

I decided to listen to GL again yesterday and today in the car while driving to work and back home. I always loved hat album. It's content in it's way with the exception of WTH and Smile but I do like those songs, always liked them.

I also recently re-listened to GL. And I noted to myself that in my opinion the songs Darlin, Remember When, Stop Standing There could be better if they had better production. But in my opinion they are too simple, although maybe Avril wanted a simple concept

I think Remember When is phenomenal! I do agree about SST, that one sounds a bit simple but it does fit the GL vibe.

This is still my absolute favorite album from Avril and one of my favorite albums and eras of all time. I donât know what it is that makes me connect so much to this album, but itâs probably because this was the era in which I really became a fan of hers and therefore the album and era are so nostalgic to me. Also the album is so personal, emotional, relatable at some points and has such a supportive vibe to it.
My absolute favorite song from it has got to be Everybody Hurts. Such a solid, amazing and relatable song. Iâm surprised it was never a single because it sounds like one of those songs that everyone knows. The guitar playing, the music and especially her vocals combined with the lyrics are just so good. I also love 4 Real, Remember When, Darlinâ and I Love You, but to me all the songs on this album are amazing and among my favorites of Avrilâs discography. Like I mentioned this album is so personal and emotional, and itâs what makes it so great.
I also visually loved this era, the music videos (especially Smile) and the album photoshoot are probably my favorites of Avrilâs career.

I also love the era. I go back watching the black star tour a lot on YouTube. We watched a montage from different shows yesterday and I think its insane how she was on stage back then. So different to now, crazy. Black star tour videos live in Brasil are always good for a good laugh like wth was going on with her. đ
Its so funny.

GL is probably my least favorite of her albums but itâs one of my favorite eras. Itâs when I discovered BA and became more involved in the fandom and started following her more closely. It was the first era I followed as it happened in real time. By then the internet and social media were a lot more advanced so it was easier to keep up with things and I loved the WTH TV videos sheâd post on YouTube. She was super active then, always doing interviews or appearances of some kind. I look back on that time with fond nostalgia, it was a simpler time in many ways. I distinctly remember buying the CD after school the day it came out and I was anxious to watch the DVD that came on the deluxe edition. I was a senior in high school and that spring I went on a trip with my class to London and on the way home, I listened to the album on the bus from the airport back to school to get picked up to go home. I remember being tired and wanting to get back home and this was kind of like a comforting album for me.

GL had a expanded edition sold through her website? I don't remember if "expanded" was the official name but it had an expanded booklet at least?
Can you get that version somewhere and what's its official name?

Yeah it was just called âexpanded edition,â you probably canât get it anywhere now unless itâs second hand somewhere. It contained a hardcover book with some extra photos.

- Her store didn't even ship to my country
Oh well, maybe ebay can help.
